I would still recommend full time AWD, seems like your family could use it more than most!
The 100 series I just picked up has ATRAC and all the electro nannies (ABS, VSC) that would serve you well on icy roads in my opinion. Plus you can fry an egg on the butt warmers.

I'm starting to think that you should avoid naming your rigs, much like cattle farmers avoid naming their cattle. RIP.

Doesn't matter what studded tire you have, on black ice your a missile. We have studded Nokians on the pick-up and I've drifted it around a few corners going less than 30km/h. Luckily all I have to deal with now is a little snow, plenty of traction in snow

That would be an OK solution, I had a farmer come by with a big skid steer and an 8' bucket on the front, he had the drive way done in 40 minutes, cost me $60. I doubt I'll be buying a snow blower

This truck was still insured in AB, it has been painful to deal with INTACT insurance. ICBC had this issue done with within weeks, INTACT told Tracy if we get the truck back there won't be anything left on the payout, with ICBC it was exactly opposite. I don't think INTACT has done a proper estimate, maybe I'll be surprised. I'd much rather deal with ICBC, at least I can talk to someone, at INTACT I just get a runaround

Good luck with insurance then. I insured in Alberta in the late 90's. Was much more expensive for me; my dealings with ICBC have
been good. Being out of province from Alberta might be making it a bit of a beef for them. Be nice if you could recover the truck for parts at least.
