Greetings...

New pig owner, been pouring over it for a few days getting to know her better and clean up a few things.

Anywho.....

I decided to take her out for a drive tonight, enjoy the night air etc...

Well I got about 6 blocks from my house when I got the bright idea go put the rear window down and let the air flow a bit more (this may be a cardinal sin but please educate me). So I press the dash switch for the rear window and I notice the rear window start the creep down. Then it stops and I know that the dash switch has been a bit slow compared to the rear key .... so I decide to just put it back up the inch or so and roll along with out the window down at all....

Then the rig dies.. and I mean dead. I coasted to a stop, pulled over and looked at a few things but nothing obvious It then starts to rain and I just called my wife to come give me a tow strap home.

So the rig is resting in the shop, and I decided rather than just more digging to come home, humble myself and post up here for some direction.

Thoughts???

Kind of sounds like you blew your main resettable fuse, check it with a volt meter to see if yours is still good. Mine looks like this.

And When you get her moving again - rear window down will only pull exhaust fumes in. Open more windows ;)

Welcome to the sty and Congrats on your purchase! (by the way swine flue is rarely fatal)

Thanks... Where is that located on the rig?

Mine was low on the passenger side inner fender. Follow the 10 gauge wire coming off the + side of the battery and look for something that looks like the picture I posted.

Use a test light starting at the battery and confirm you have power on both terminals of the main fuse, if you lost power to your ignition switch it will be simple to follow this circuit after the main fuse.

My inner passenger fender is crowded. Is it located on the firewall or maybe under my batteries?

Yes definitely not stock, check the two fuses I circled in this photo.

You are going to need to identify the main power wire going into the cab and confirm you are getting power.

Checked both of them.

Still hunting around with my test light.

That doesn't look right. :-)

Marc,

Wish I could be more helpful, but J Mack is right. Try tracing back from the batteries. Hard telling what the PO has done for wiring. What year Chevy is it? Do you have power to anything, lights, etc.

Edit, looks like you might have found the problem!

Time for a test drive.

So it was only a 20A fuse, that seems kinda light for a main fuse isn't it?

I believe my stock fuse was a 60 amp resetable but I upgraded my entire wiring and I'm using a Mega 175 amp main fuse now.

It was located on the inner fender by the blue top Optima.

On the bright side I know way more about the electrical system. Haha.
