The prices I had heard for a diesel conversion were about $10,000 + USD. The person that I talked to, seemed to have been pretty positive about the conversion on his vehicle. However, some things were never quite figured out--it wasn't a "Plug and Play" situation. I don't know cost wise what the best option would be in this case.

screw the 350 throw a tundra v8 in there :D. Heard it was done on one cruisers haven't seen it though.

these guys
http://www.engineinstallation.com/
quoted me mid $5k for a <50k used 1FZ-FE installed.
I know that they are not in oregon, but there may be a place that is similar.
WHat confused me is that they said not many are rebuilding the 4.5L, and the way to go are used motors. Why is this, or is this BS?

Ultimauk,
nah the pricing on that peice is for the motor and the 5 speed manual trans. Might be a bit high but nothing out of lign for what you are getting. of course in my opinion what you would be getting is a headache.
Dave

You could hire BJowett to hop up the motor! Just a thought.
