Managed to find a bit of time this afternoon to sort the carpets out.

Sound deadening and heat shielding in

Then heavy rubber underfelt

And finally carpets and the rest

Just need to ask the Mrs nicely to cover the center console now :hillbilly: :princess:

I like the change over to the solid front crossmember then the ladder bracket for the hinge …. So much more natural looking

Coming out good!!!

Keep up the good work… maybe the misses can put padding on the console for an arm rest
Thanks man. Ja, agreed on the cross member. Glad I came back to it.

Funny you should mention padding, it was the first thing my Mrs said when she saw it. Apparently she has a nice chunk of foam already lined up. I just need to decide what material to go with to cover it

Wind screen on

Sound deadening the roof too. Will install it as is for the moment. Will take it off again when the Mrs says she's ready to upholster it.

And on

And in other news, whilst working on a damascus knife for a customer, had it slip through my hands at the grinder and it split my thumb in 2. Bunch of stitches, and pain killers later...

Well, it has begun!

First, out with the alternator, the thing that took my cruiser off the road 8 months ago. This needs to get new brushes. And a bath
20260122_091029.webp

This was the old loom fresh out the cab
20250711_155554.webp

And this was it once stripped of all its tuning and tape
20260121_155208.webp

First up, I need a plan. This is only part of it. Its too big to get a decent Pic of!
Screenshot_20260122_193759_Drive.webp

The main goal us to simplify and remove excess, so that I don't have to do this again!

I wanted to get rid of the big fuse boxes. They took up way too much space and most of the circuits were redundant.

Instead, I have worked out i can condense everything down to this
20260116_145329.webp

One fuse block, one 6way relay block and then the ecu.

Im going to be using one big heavy relay behind my main fuseable link to switch everything off when I want to
20260121_155857.webp

And then I had the idea to put everything on a plate that hinges up and under the glove box. This way every thing is safe in the cab, but tucked out the way, but also easily accessible to work on

And here's it is in action, starting to get wires routed to it.
20260122_161250.webp

This should work really nice

Getting it done. Actually amazed how fast its going this time. Having a plan and a diagram before you start is much better.

Figured out the engine bay loom and rear loom. Then mapped out lengths for all the in cab stuff. Now I have it all out on the bench for ease of work
20260123_085238.webp

And in full swing
20260123_165750.webp

If I keep going st this rate, I will be done by end of the weekend!

And in amongst all the wiring, also managed to finish up the knife that opened up my thumb, which although healing nicely, is taking its sweet time.

That means i can only do 'light' work, although the doctor would prefer I didn't do anything at all.

Looks like a custom made knife. Do you know what the burl wood species is?

Everybody wants the best doctor in the world, few follow their instructions. I goes faster to heal correctly the first time, than to start over because something goes south. I'm a big fan of doing extra stuff like cleaning, ointments like Vitamin E, biofeedback directed meditation, food supplementation such as added cayenne to clean your blood.

Yup, custom made knife. Thats my day job as a knife maker. Forge my own damascus too.

The wood is rooibos or red bushwillow, Latin name combretum apiculatum.

I agree on looking after cuts and stuff. Just annoying because of how its slowing me down

Awesome build, thanks for documenting so well.
It looks like you must have mostly nice weather all the time where you’re at? Or is there a monsoon season when you move everything in?
We basically have either wet or dry season here. Rain from November to April, which is our summer, and then the rest dry. May through July is our winter, but day temps are still around 25 degrees C

Wiring.... wiring.... wiring

But finally got to the point where I needed to test all systems

And then that required me to finish thr exhaust so I could mount the AFR.
Had to go from 3" to 2.5" for the silencer, so came up with this and added the bung for the sensor.
20260131_123153.webp

Then finished off the exhaust as a side exit 3"

Happy with that!

Then had to fix a hole in the radiator. Tried my hand at plastic welding and it seems to have gone well. No more leak. I will get a new rad when I can, but money is too tight right now for that.
20260202_162701.webp

And then finally this afternoon I finished testing, changing and altering all the wiring. Now I can pull it all out, neaten it up and put it in some protective tubing.

Can't belive how much simpler it is this time around. All of the wiring for the entire vehicle goes through this one bit of tubing
20260204_172116.webp

And here is the entire loom on the ground, ready to be taped up
20260204_174833.webp

And last but not least, this arrived today as well. So will get it in tomorrow
20260204_122153.webp

Not far now

Doing my best Kilgore imitation: “That sound, that guttural exhaust sound…Sounds like victory”!!!
