OK, so here’s the deal. Our club president and cruiserhead extraordinairre Dave West is in the hospital recovering from cancer surgery. Yes, I said CANCER surgery. At 43. Anyways, life has been less than perfect for Dave as of late, but you’d never know it from hangin with him on the trails, as he always tries to put on his best game face for us. He’s gonna be out of commission for quite some time, and we all know what that means financially.

Dave is much too proud to accept charity, and I don’t aim to change that. So what I’d like to see happen with this thread is for all you cruiserheads that know Dave [which is pretty much EVERYBODY in Cali] that would like to help Dave out in a way he is more likely to accept, to post up stuff you’re willing to part with for a price. All the net proceeds will go into a fund to do with as Dave sees fit once he’s out of the hospital.

Dave means a lot to me personally. Though we’ve had our words over the years, I will never forget that he was the first one from the cruiser community to step forward and spend some serious quality time with me when I was going thru the initial shock and grief of my buddy Sacha’s death. For that [and a hundred other reasons] I have agreed, with the understanding and the backing of the rest of my club, to be the coordinator for this.

Though I am not a big fan of Paypal, I have set up a paypal account to make things easier. You are also welcome to send checks to me to pay for stuff, and I will hold them in trust until Dave decides what he wants to do. The paypal account is about as unoriginal as I could make it: 65swb45@earthlink.net

I thought another cool thing we could try would be to try and do this kind of like a silent auction. You could post something up that you’re willing to donate to the cause and accept bids by PM for a specified time on that item. That way there doesn’t have to be any embarrasing public bidding and you can still maximize the donation you can forward. If you’d like to share a story about Dave in the process, that would be cool too.

I will also offer to move any parts that I can back and forth between here and Petaluma the weekend of the swapmeet to facilitate making this work to the biggest extent possible. Space in my 45 is limited, but I will do what I can.:)

Finally, I would like to kickstart this deal by tossing my set of early hubcaps into the deal. Opening bid of $200, with bidding to close 6pm Pacific time July 11th. Please bid by PM only.

Thank you for your support

4" Sky Jacker FJ40 Springs

Sky Jacker 4" Lift FJ40

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Lift is used and was installed for 3 years on my 1975 FJ40. Lift has 3 runs on the Rubicon, 1 to Moab, plus a couple of thousand street and light trail miles on it. I have purchased some ALCAN Springs as replacements for the Sky Jacker Kit to handle the additional weight I carry for tools, parts and camping gear. The kit includes the 4 Hydro Shocks that came with the kit. One of the rear springs was sagging a bit and I have sent both rear springs back to Skyjacker under warranty. ***Update Sky Jacker sent me new rear replacement springs (I just had to pay the freight) So the springs are now available for pick up. The Sky Jacker warranty only extends to the original purchaser so NO additional warranties on the springs will be provided.
The springs are flexy and will serve you well. If I have extra bushings for the Sky Jackers I will provide them. But the buyer may need to get a few extra spring eye bushings from Sky Jacker. The fitted leaf for the rear will go with the set but is not installed.

All proceeds will go to the Dave West fundraiser.

Click here for more information on the fund raiser: https://forum.ih8mud.com/showthread.php?t=164568

I would like to get $350.00 for the set up with the buyer to pay shipping if needed. The springs are located in Walnut Creek, California. Please PM if interested. Once you have sent me a PM. Please be aware that this will be posted on Pirate as well and may sell before I have chance to update this site.

If you have any questions PM me here or pirate.

Thanks,
Dave Thomas
