Well I got the shell painted and figured out that the M12000 won't fit in the rear so I may switch up the winch situation now. I should have the accessories painted next week, with the exception of he Hi-Lift mount since I need it to mock it up.

I forgot to add that all of this was done with rattle cans. Rustoleum Professional Primer, Duplicolor Storm Grey Mettalic, and Duplicolor Protective Enamel.

And yes I left the booger welds on the logo on purpose, because I thought it looked cool against the clean lines of the bumper. So before you start flogging:flipoff2:

true!
got ta keep the sharks happy!

So now the the dust has settled and the nursery is pretty much done I decided to install the hand throttle and Landtank's seat extension. Not much to see in those installations, but both are awesome. The leg room is a HUGE improvement. I never thought two inches would make that big of a difference. (Insert distasteful joke here):flipoff2:

Since I suffer from "while you're in there" syndrome, I figured I would pull and clean the carpets and rewire the stereo. I didn't think the wiring would have been this bad. It seems that there was a much more complicated sound system in here at one time and some one pulled components before they sold it. I plan on installing the compressor in the rear side panel, installing two aux fuse boxes, install the West Marine 12V outlets in the front and rear, install additional rear cargo lights, run the control wires for the rear winch and possibly put down some Quietcrap under the carpet.

Nice, now that you've got all the crap out of your way you have some room to work  that's the right way to do it :)

Meh. I was just talking about a hand throttle today on the shifter. Great minds travel the same trail.

Inside looks weird empty.

Thanks Cody Sent from my iPhone using IH8MUD

I started to mock up the compressor and it's going to be a BEAR! Also, the slope is more slippery than I thought... All roof lights, grab handles, visors, etc. are removed and the headliner is comin out tomorrow. Quietcrap and a radiant barrier will be installed after the remaining factory roof rack is removed and the holes are welded up. So Larry if you're reading this, the cargo lights will be pretty easy come tomorrow!

glad to see ya getting some forward motion on the 80:)
now ya know most of this by now but--- a re read might be in order:

Pretty much sums it up

Thanks for the reminder PK!

I have seen it Larry. I may contribute after I get over the tear down and cleanup hump! I like keeping this thread up to date so I can reference back to it when I need.

Alright so it took about 2 and a half weeks (no weekends) to get everything done and back together and another week and a half for me to update the thread. The day I had the rig back together, I had her on a trailer and was headed to Superlift, where I snapped another front axle, so the next project is putting in chromoly axles in the front. Good thing is since the front axle was gone through less than 5,000 miles ago, only the axles will need to be swapped out. A few good lessons learned in this time frame. ..
  1. The “Jute” or carpet insulation is extremely flammable. I had removed as much of it as I could by hand then used a dog hair brush and in some cases a wire wheel and the sparks from welding still found a few strands to light.
  2. Ultragauges cannot withstand being slammed in the door. Mine is totally trashed.
  3. A decent laminate/Formica roller pays dividends on the installation of sound deadening material. This stuff is thick!
  4. Never paint outside when pollen is in full swing! My black roof has a suede texture to it
Here is a picture of the roof after welding and body filler, and then after paint. I wasn’t worried about it being perfect, I will be spraying the entire truck with bed-liner. Hopefully this will be done before SCC.

Installed sound deadener on the roof and floors. I put 2 layers of radiant barrier on the passenger floorboard to go to combat with the heat from the Cats. The doors will come later, I should have enough material left over. Check out my Bling!

I installed the aux fuse boxes in the front and the rear. I utilized part of the bottle jack mount and one of the existing threaded holes to mount the rear. I have yet to mount the front, but all 6 slots are pretty much used.

Installed 12v outlets on front console and rear qtr panel. The little switch above the one in the rear controls the Larry Landry LED Lights (say that 5 times fast). Jacks.webp

Installed the Pioneer AVH-X3500BHS, Uniden Pro520xl, Gamiviti dash bezel with Datel voltage meter (rigged for dual batteries) and pressure gauges to monitor both tank pressure and locker pressure.

And finally, I mounted the compressor in the rear qtr panel. There was a good bit that went into this and below is a link to the thread in the main forum that somewhat details the installation steps. I need to pick up an ammeter to get the wiring sorted out. It seems that the compressor is pulling a ton of amps with any pressure on the system; i.e. the pressure switch comes on at 110psi and I’m tripping 40amp breakers or blowing 60 amp fuses. Before you call BS, this is a 3/4hp working and 1hp peak dc motor.

I think I’m still recovering from this project. I’d say my pregnant wife is pretty amazing for putting up with me for those 2 and a half weeks!

Good progress. Any chance your power wire is to small for the compressor?:meh:

Nice work Justin as usual everything looks well thought out and implemented bud I especially like the rear fuse box and air compressor mount :) Cheers!

There's a good chance. I just matched the 10 awg wire that was supplied with the pump. As soon as I can get my hands on a DC ammeter capable of measuring 80 or so amps, I can set up the wiring and components correctly.

Thank you sir!

looking good:clap:

would run at least #4 in not #2 to the compressor:)

the way ya going there won`t be anything left on the cruiser to do with your boy --- but:steer:
