Well i've been struggling with crappy lighting for a while so i thought i'd try these out and write a review. I've tried upgraded harness with hella housings with some improvements. my high beams are great but lows still suck. i have sylvania h4s now but still don't let me see what i need to at night. i had the 100w hella h4s but they were really yellow and didn't seem to give me any better light that the standard ones. being that my high beam lights work so much better i figured it wasnt a bad ground in my IPF harness causing decreased power. i thought about going with LED but the price was to hight for Speaker ones and i didn't see any others i liked. when Ben from dapper lighting introduced his 4x6 lights to mud i thought here's a chance to try them out. i bought a set and just got them earlier this week. Ben has been great to work with and very quick to respond to questions. the parts are really well packaged for shipping and look to be made of high quality parts. I have some pictures on my camera at home i'll try to upload tonight. i'll also try to get them installed in the next week if possible and document everything as a review for him of how these lights work. they are supposed to be plug and play which is good for me as i am a wiring dummy. i'll keep you all posted as i go along.

(as a side note my high beam indicator no longer works with the IPF harness despite having the bypass wire hooked up. could this indicate a harness problem leading to the poor lows? hopefully it doesn't affect this install)

I put in relays and 10 gauge wire from the battery via the relays to the head lights.

I went from 10.5 volts at the headlights via the OEM harness to 14.2 volts with my own harness on both hi and low beams - went from night to daylight like driving

Read about SLCFJ62's wiring harness and you will see that the problem really isnt the fact that there is a bad ground but rather that the original wiring was underpowered to begin with and then you add 20+yrs of corrosion, wear from heat, and what not and the capacity for them to work "properly" decreases significantly.

Hopefully you will have good luck with the Dappers and definitely post up a review and lots and LOTS of photos... We LC guys love our photos!:coughcruiserporncough:

i understand that the old wiring tends to be the weak link. i have an upgraded harness using the IPF harness and still have crap low beams so thought there might be a problem with my harness. it by passes the original wiring. i guess i should check my voltage at the wiring while changing these lights over. this still wont fix my lack of high beam indicator though:frown:

as promised here are a few pictures. the kit comes with projector housings, HID inserts and ballasts. New wiring harness included (may not need it as i already have upgraded harness as mentioned earlier) and a bunch of hardware. Instructions included too.

Bling bling.

I am nothing but pleased with the light produced by my Dapper Projector lenses in my 60.

I bought SLCFJ62's wiring harness and I added some Hellas and it's like driving with spotlights for headlamps. Huge improvement and Erik was a class act during the whole process.

they are only the low beams. there is no high beam kit yet so i'll have to wait. honestly my high beams are great right now but my lows suck so hopefully this will address the issue. maybe sunday i'll find some time to install them.

Cost of entire kit? This is something I may be interested in.

$250 with harness and 35w 5000K lights. i got a bit of a deal because i offered to do a write up :). still way cheaper than a set of speaker lights. if they work out as well as i hope they'll be worth that price to me.

sorry everyone but no joy tonight. I don't have time to install the lights this weekend but hopefully over the next week I'll get some time. if it's a s easy as I think it shouldn't take too much time but with my luck I plan on a two hour job and it takes me 10

well i got started on the first part of the install. the first part was easy and took about half an hour. instructions are pretty thorough.

the housings are designed for H3 bulbs so there is a H4 adapter to go on.

first you take the backing plate off and remove the H3 wiring harness.

then you insert the H4 adapter and fasten it with three screws.

Install the HID H4 light and twist to lock it into place.

hook up the wiring as outlined by the instructions. its really self explanatory as the male and female ends only have one option each to mate to so there isnt really a way to hook them up wrong.

first the H4 wiring

then the ballast

when all hooked up it should look like this. there are two wires coming off for the halo light that can be hooked up as day time runners.

next comes installing them into the truck. there are mounting brackets that hold the ballasts and they comes with a wiring harness and relays. you can choose between two lights or 4 lights on with high beams. i already have an upgrade IPF harness that all 4 lights come on with. i'm just having a little trouble with it right now and will hopefully sort it out tonight. if it goes well i'll get these lights installed. if not then they'll have to wait as I don't want to install them and have problems to sort out after yet another variable goes into the mix. so far i've been impressed with the quality of the parts though and am anxious to see how they perform.
