Wow that's in good condition for it's age.
Whoever put it away gave it a good steam clean preserving the old girl for future generations to admire.
Nice score.

Found a little time to work on this rig.
Right Rear brake was locked up when I bought it.
It was a bit of a struggle, but I finally got the drum off.

Big hammer wasn't working.
8lb hammer was not working.

Tacked two 7/16" nuts to the drum.

Cross bar puller and the Big Hammer got the drum off.

After getting the drum off, I was a bit surprised at the condition of the brake assy.

Disassembled everything and Cleaned everything.
I had a new set of wheel cylinders for this rig. So they are installed.

Lines and union connectors all cleaned out so I assembled it. After a put a coat of high temp paint on the backing plate.

1962 Toyota FJ 45 that was sold and registered in 1963 comes to life.

Topped off all the fluids, pulled spark plugs and added some Marvels Mystery Oil to each cylinder. Cleaned the points. Checked fuel system and found some "opportunities of improvement" in the fuel system that I will address. I'm pretty sure this rig did not come with a Napa electric fuel pump.

Pretty happy with the way it runs.

Time to deside on which carburetor to have professionally rebuilt by JimC

If I was smarter, I would post the video of it running.

I added a cup of Marvels Mystry Oul to crankcase.
Brought it up to operating temperature. Made sure it wasn't blowing bubbles in the radiator and thermostat opened. The big metal fan blade moves a lot of air so I'm not sure the thermostat opened all the way.

Very happy with the way it runs. Gauges quickly came up to respectable numbers.

Pulled the drain plug and changed oil. The oil filter has seen better days.

I ordered a few oil filters from Cruisercorp, as well as other giblets for some other rigs.

What a great looking truck! Nothing like a little 'puttering around' to keep up the motivation!

Sorting parts and cleaning the shed a little.

Question 1
Does this go with my 1962/63 FJ45 or my 1962/63 FJ40?

Question 2
What does it control?

Question 3
What goes in the 3rd hole?View attachment 1182287View attachment 1182288

Probably neither. Non removable top SWB FJ45s didn't have heaters, and I don't think early FJ40's had stock heaters until 1965.
Its the stock heater/vent switch mount for early FJ40/45's.
The third hole is for rear heaters on FJ40 and 45 LV wagons. If there wasn't a rear heater it just had a plug in it.
