how in the F$%K do you get the C-clips out of a Dana 44?

Did you remove the shaft that holds both the pinion (small) gears out?
tap on outer side of the axel shaft they should drop out!
both 2 and 3
A dana 44 should'nt have C clips. Axles are held in by the outer bearing and retainer on the end of the axle tubes, behind the brake shoes.
my dana 44 has C clips... i guess mine must be custom! 
Take out the spider gears first, it should be pretty easy! Then tap the axel shaft and the c clip should pop right out and fall in the bottom of your housing

Sorry for the mis information. I didn't realize Isuzu used a C Clip dana 44.
