Not to 'dis' on BHicks (looks like a good product, really) or any other vendors -

But is it just me or does anyone else find the sheer number of "cupholder" threads we get nearly embarassing?

Really, we have argueably the most competent mass produced (easily top 5) 4wd & yet what is the big topic? -cupholders? -really?

I'm sure it's just me, but it's alot like when you see a real bitchin' mountain bike like a Evil Insurgent / Following or Santa Cruz V10 / Bronson on the bike rack outside a Starbucks.

It's like a Triple Crown race horse being used to give "pony rides" to little kids at a birthday party.

Sorry for the mini-rant, but after 10-12 yrs here the cupholder thing just seems like if a Ferrari owner wanted snowtires to drive over mountain passes.
- Certain vehicles just don't need certain provisions -

Not saying I don't use mine, I do - but whatever I get fits or if the bottle (water normally, or the big Gatorade / Lipton tea ones) - I just drop down by the E-brake.

:::deep breath:::

OK, I finally said it. I feel better. I'll shut up now. /rant

I feel you. I'm the cup holder guy and get annoyed by the cup holder threads. I try to avoid them when possible. At the same time, when I originally made the front and rear double cup holders (prototypes 1.0) in my last 80, it was literally the best mod I had done and I had a massive mod list. I think the cup holder topic is a lot more exciting for those of us with kids. I have 3 and number 4 on the way so cup holders was an instant hit for the hole family. It's a rare thing when my wife gets excited about a mod. Most of the time I get the death look when she sees the receipts for items I have put on my rigs. Cup holders aren't for everybody but for the folks who need them and want them to be fully functional; they are wonderful. It's just the frosting on the cake of a killer rig from the factory. It's the one spot Toyota struck out on.

@bhicks - the minute you mentioned kids I totally got it, at any age the rear seat folks never have a holder (and I don't have kids).

So yeah, I'm feeling like the royal butthead about now, and honestly if I ever was to get a cupholder, yours would be it, just for the fact it looks like the pocket is wide enough to hold a iphone 6 (loved how the iphone 4 fit perfect laying flat on top right of console). I finally got a new phone ~2 months back & hate the size, luckily it fits in a pocket under my aftermarket stereo that's just a single DIN size.

And more power to you for making a few $$$ to keep the wife 'death stare' at bay when she sees 80 sales slips, you have a good product & demand is there. At least you're supplementing your 80 habit with a little side income.

I just had a decade of 'cupholder thread' I had to rant about, and I now get it esp with kiddos - IDK if you make it, but maybe a 2 or 3 cup version to clip over the back of the lower console hinge for when you have 'em packed up 3 deep & need a spot for the 'sippy cups'.

Wow, that's full circle! - from ranting about cupholders to dropping a cupholder idea in <1 hour! :hmm:

You mean like this:

80 Series/LX450 Rear Double Cup Holder | BH3D Printing

Haha - yep. Clearly my "new idea" come from all the hours I haven't spent shuffling kiddos to the back seat or seeing them toss their sippy cups around.

But yeah, bingo!

Looks like the bump to this thread got my website hot again. I'm getting the same questions now in pm's. The mud coupon code is "TEQ15" that gives 15% off the entire order plus free shipping. The orders that came in over the last couple hours will get prepped this evening and shipped out on Monday. I try to keep Sunday a family day so any orders that come in tomorrow will get prepped on Monday and shipped Tuesday or Wednesday.

Cup holders beat baby wipes to cleanup spilled drinks.

Can't imagine a better ending - I had an 'airing of grievances' AKA Festivus tradition (for the Seinfeld crowd) & you got a few order$ - win win!

LMK when you want to schedule another Festivus! :D

Great @bhicks ,now you have the front one with a phone holder! Now I need to order a new one, AND the dual rear one! @wisemonkey I picked one up, used only the 3M tape for a while, and saw it flexing ever so slightly with a full travel mug, and hitting the beautiful CA potholes. Put the screws in it and never had a problem. I also picked one up for my buddy's 4runner, he used tape and screws and it still came loose. Hit the bolt bin in the garage and grabbed a small machine screw/nut with some larger washers and put it on, never a problem since. Some mount up easy with no problems and some need addressing. I also ordered the TEQ grille badge and the screws (IMO) weren't the best hold along with the tape, so I trimmed down some 3/4" drywall screws and it's tighter than a nuns ****! As far as product quality, they both kick ass and I'll be ordering new ones as soon as the cob webs are displaced from my driver's license holding device!

I guess I look at it another way. Toyota made one of the best vehicles on the planet, but the only thing they really screwed up on, was cupholders (I know that's not entirely true). You gotta think that's a good thing, at least we don't have transmissions made of tissue paper, or some of the other crap the other 4x4s have to deal with.

So I'm back to teaching again and spent my summer time wisely. I trained a new guy to help with prepping orders and working on machines. That should open up my time to get back into the R&D stuff that I love. I have been so burried in orders that product development was just no longer an option. Hopefully that time will now open back up. I have been working on the some new stuff over the summer for the 80, 100, and 4Runner that will be coming out in late October and early November. I will be going back through the 80 series line of cup holders and adding cell mounts to a couple of them to match the 3rd Gen 4Runner guys cup holders. The 80 series crowd caught wind of what I did with the 3rd gen guys and now want cell phone holders as well. Here is a shot of the new front double cup design that will be coming out soon. The rear double and the square insert cup holder will not be changing. Just the front single and double will get a minor change.
Better pics will come once I get the new design ready for market. This is my current prototype that got installed in my 80. I took it into to Costco to the cell phone kiosk and asked to see the 4 largest phones they had and all 4 fit without issue.

Do you have 70 series and other such odd to us gringos sorts of LandCruisers? You may need them if people from CA and SA start hitting on you. They have all the good options in various choices we never had a chance to try.:crybaby::D
I was rereading this thread due to a couple recent questions that popped up and realized I never responded to your question. I do make 70 series cup holders. I have a vendor who sells them for me. I just manufacture them. I make the console and floor mounted ones. Check out Odd Iron Offroad. You can get them here: STORE
