Selling my 71 FJ40 I have been working on for the last year or so. I don't drive it as much as I have hoped too. but when I do it is a fun rig to cruise around in and or take on a long trip.
I picked this up through @joesfj40 who had called me knowing I was looking for a 40 series project.
It was a rig that was sitting for a long time and needed some love.
I took on the project to get it back on the road and give it a second chance.
Asking $ 12,000

* Replaced the tired F engine with a 85 FJ60 2F. ( F engine spun a bearing) kept the F air cleaner, carb, intake and exhaust.
* converted from a three speed on the column to 4 speed on the floor. ( George @ Valley hybrids rebuilt the trans/transfer combo for me)
I kept the vacuum shift and knob that's under the dash and works good. Still have the original trans hump uncut. no holes.
* New drive shafts and universal joints.
* Converted from drum brakes to disc brakes. (used fj60 knuckles and hubs for this.)
* New CityRacer brake booster and Proportioning valve.
* New rear brakes and wheel cylinders.
* New Master cylinder.
* New clutch slave cylinder
* Converted the gearing from 4:10 to 3:73's for better highway driving. I do still have the original 4:10 thirds if you want to go back to that gearing.
* FJ60 wheels that have been powder coated. New 30 inch Kuhmo Tires with matching spare.
* Has a later steering wheel on it. couldn't find a decent original wheel without paying $1000 bucks for it. Has a catskin leather wrap on it. recently installed
* Comes with a bikini top and a Hardtop. Hardtop needs to be put back together otherwise all complete.
* New Toyota turn signals front and rear.
* New original turn signal switch. turn signals work!
* New windshield to cowl gasket.
* New Right/Left door mirrors
* New rear view mirror.
* New Right/Left window felts and wipers have been installed. So no glass rattles.
* New front bumper and rear bumperetes.
* New tie rod ends. Drag link has bee rebuilt.
* Rear axle seals replaced
* Front Knuckles have been rebuilt.
* Front seats are comfortable and original.
* New Kioto LED headlights. I shortened the wiring harness so it wouldn't be all bunched up.
* News LED bulbs installed in the dash cluster.
* Odometer works and all gauges work. Speedometer works as well.
* All the indicator lights work Park brake indicator, 4wd engagement indicator, reverse light and license light work.
* New Marks Offroad receiver hitch.

It does have the usual rust along the rear sill plate and some on the corners of the rear tub. but it is very minimal.
The real bad spot is the drivers floor in front of the tool box and just before the floor transitions to the fire wall. I do have a replacement floor section for this.
It is the original white on the rig and it has some cool stripes original stripes on it.
Runs and starts and drives good.
Hit me up if you are interested or know of someone who might be.
and if you need more pics let me know.

Cheers
Jorge

I have tried to get several customers in the market to buy this, for whatever reason I can't get them to understand what great value this is as a turn-key driver that would make all of them happy. Instead they keep dumping money into junk or buying junk with fresh paint and it makes no sense to me

I appreciate you refer or guiding them to this rig.
yeah, I don't understand what people see. or don't see! I have noticed the piles for sale on mud have sold and my cruiser has been overlooked. yeah its not pretty but it has had all the right stuff done to it.
I don't get it either. just makes me shake my head.
