I'm crying wolf a bit here cause it's yet another post without any Landcruiser goodness, but in just 5 short days I'll be home and ready to:

Bleed clutch!
Install FRESHLY RECONDITIONED WHEEL CYLINDERS!
Make a few brake hard lines!
Bleed brakes!
Get my auto sparky mate to get all the volts flowing!
Install new spring bushes!
Install new door rubbers!
Install muffler!
Get a roadworthy!
Register the damn thing!

Also, whilst I've been away I've been a bit naughty. I bought or was given:

Another 5 split rims, two of which are hubcap-ready and two of which have good Road Trak Majors, giving me FIVE RTM's total. To be picked up when i return. $75.
1971 45 - MPH cluster, strikers, apron indicators, guard indicator lenses, mirror arm, dash knobs and all associated screws. $80.
1969 40 - Two leather wiring harness joiners. Free.
Two early bezels and something else. Free.
Two doors that I later found out are rusted to hell, but complete. $50.
1971 45 - An FJ55 remote brake booster that supposedly works, two side steps, all dash knobs and switches, t-stat housings, apron indicators, indicators, complete steering box-column-wheel-indicator assy., a near-new 1F starter, two more strikers and two more doors. $250.

And I also made enquiries about a complete barn find '65 45 about two hours from me. But then work went nuts and I haven't called him back. Safe to say I've got some presents for me when I arrive home! Just got to change the belts on the BJ74, do a quick rewrite of a feature script I've been editing, shoot a short crowd funding campaign and it'll be wrenchin' time! So PUMPED!!

Boy have I been literally vibrating with excitement to make this post! I came across a '64 45 FHT. More on that later.

This afternoon I went around to see 84TROOPY, aka Peter, to collect some split rims and Road Trak Majors that came with his recently purchased HJ47. Peter is one of THE nicest guys you'll meet, and has a cracking 11/'84 47 Troopy complete with dealer fitted air, discs, FF rear axle, now 11 seats and a sweet running 2H. A tiny bit of tin worm here and there but all in all a beautiful old rig, and boy is he not afraid to drive it! Anyway, after loading up my new-to-me splits and RTM's, Peter suggested going and seeing the mechanic that passed his truck for registration. So we piled into the 47 and Peter drove us ten minutes down a long and winding road, deep into the bush to the end of a cul-de-sac where an old boy and his son run their workshop deep in the hills. I tell you, the view on this joint. If you had to have a workshop, this is the place to do it. Quiet as a mouse, deep in the valley and surrounded by bush. Upon our arrival I was out and introducing myself and asking about the early girl. We were led round the back to this:

The sun was dropping fast, so I snapped off a full reel before she returned the truck to the darkness from whence she came. Aside from the later indicators [originals stored for later], she's dead stock. Ok, maybe the paint and the engine crane on the front end, but other than that. Now this is the first FHT I've seen in the flesh, and despite generally knowing what to look for I sort of don't know what to look for!

Short side steps but probs aftermarket rubber.
Gas cap!
Shift pattern on stick!
Factory interior lining?
Is this accelerator pedal stock?

Shiny red doors! Also, no windscreen latches!
Riveted under windscreen vent?? Also, no hinges

Chassis # 3-FJ45 14110 [no sooner do my hands touch the keyboard do I realise she's a '63..]
And before west aussie and oz cruiser get a chance to ask, yes, she's been extended. Right at the rear cab mount.

nice cult did you see under the hood? does it have extension ? chassis number?
side step rubber should be white diamond I think
petrol cap looks right
I know later 3 speeds had shift pattern knob but my 63 doesn't have evidence of it
interior lining didn't have that pattern but did have a trim around the back kind of wood grain I believe
accelerator pedal is stock on all early right hand drive, that one has been hacked away at the bottom to get at the bolts I suspect

That chassis number is actually 3fj45-14110 its just on 700 units newer then my old girl 13413

The chassis extension looks like the very " prestigious " queensland version, i would eat my hat if its not about 5". bananabenders needed a extra inch over those sandgropers for the bigger loads we carried haha
All bull$hitting aside looks the same the way they extended my one

Skywalker's old man can spin around so you can read your map or clean the roof or signal semaphore style to other drivers

splendidly prestigious. cant wait to see more pics. reckon if it was mine would have to just leave it a is and use as a yard crane. a new favourite jack!

think that flap under the windscreen has had the spot welds drilled out and been bolted together. neat enough job though.

i see the crankhandle but not the jackhandles. certainly ask if any jack or tools and whatnot are laying about somewhere. being 63 may still have the larger 23mm wheel nuts. wheel brace is a very nice thing (even if wheel nuts have been swapped out). and copies of any old po photographs are very cool.

west you could use this uber rare Landcruiser to jack up your '61, '62, '63, '64 or any of your other uber rare Landcruisers.

I've posted every photo I took, even the defocused ones (which shames me but speaks of my love of the earlies) and I'm not going back until mine is registered. I happened upon these blokes at ten to five and within two minutes had respectfully barged my way into their lives, camera in hand. So there'll be no going back for a few weeks at least. Tell you what though, the son, Mark, cracked the drivers door and turned to me and said 'it's probably got some charge in it', pulled a little choke and hit the key. As you'd expect she fired right up. Peter and I laughed. But it was a knowing laugh, not a surprised one.
