After 12 hours:

13 - LC
5 - 4 runner

It seems there are some comments to the effect that the 4runner suits family or lifestyle needs...I get that. That is why I bought that nimble beast. 2 1/2 years later and the guy who bought mine still calls me to tell me how much he loves it.
Our family grew, and so did my vehicular needs.

"Everybody, behave and stop bickering. This is about inspiring more people to get into out offroading. I've never understood people who argue constantly about who is wrong and who is right, because the fact is, there are many "right" answers, especially for people just starting out.

Nicely said.

Folks please keep to the topic and please don't insult or troll.

I will delete posts as needed.

Thanks.

I agree with you 100 percent!!!!!!!!!!!!:beer::beer::beer::cheers:

Is it safe yet?

Anyone think the GX460 might make a good compromise? I was thinking of taking a look at one later today if I have time. The LR4 is in the price range too, but I'm worried about reliability.

the GX460 is the LC Prado in the rest of the world, def worth checking out imo!!!

The GX 460 is very nice, the only major downer is that it's about the same size as your 4-runner. It is also a lighter duty vehicle, but that won't bother the durability too much. Take one for ride.

^^^ What he said.
I'd favor one over a 4Runner. But both are great trucks.

LR4 blew my mind!!

Somebody stop me!!

I had a few 4runners ('85 '98 '03 '07). I prefer my 200 over any of them.

I can't find the videos but I drove an uparmored 200 D4D LC in Iraq. These things are tanks. Too bad we can't get the diesels here. I'd stay away from the Prado, it will disappoint when compared to the 200.

OK, I've come to my senses on the whole LR$ thing. :o

There's a Toyota dealership nearby that has a grey 2008 LC with 29,000 miles on it. It's a one owner vehicle with a clean Carfax. It looks very clean and unmodified. They're asking $48K and change. It's been on the lot since mid-June. It comes Certified with a 12 month/12,000 mile warranty.

Good price? What should I look for if I drive out to check it out?

Also, has anyone had success having dealerships swap tires to something more off-road worthy?

the mileage is super low, wow, crazy low mileage, but even with that mileage the price seems a bit high to me... When I was looking for a 2008 I was finding them more in the low 40's-ish, but then again they had more miles then that... tell them to take 3 or 4k off the price and throw some new tires on it and you'll take it:) yah, I've had dealerships do stuff like tires etc, all depends on how bad they want to get rid of the rig and how much they are into it for...

Sounds high to me too. I got my 2008 this spring for $39k, although it had 65k miles and is the salsa red pearl (less desirable to some) And had been on lot for 7 months. Grey was my first choice color but couldn't find one that worked out. Dealer knows its low miles and a desirable color hence the price. Like the previous post just throw a number and see if it sticks.

Aargh....sold.

Happened to me too dude. Saw a gray one I liked. Waited too long and it was gone, to South Africa (from Massachusetts). That's why I settled on the red pearl one, mainly on price but didn't want to wait any longer. You'll find one.

I just finished reading this thread.....here is my take....

Xwing or YT 1300 Cornelian Lightfreighter.......

You want to be a whiney little b***h like Skywalker....or as cool as possible like Solo....

Your choice......:grinpimp::grinpimp::grinpimp: :p:p:p

You can guess my choice by my license plate sounding out to say "My Falcon"

**************

Now on a serious note...my wife's requirements for me getting a vehicle (back in 2007) was must fit a double stroller and 4 car seats.... Now we only need one car seat....and she fits all of us even more perfectly.

2nd row sliding seat

"Also, I'm surprised by the sliding 2nd row. We couldn't move the seats forward and thought that was a bummer. Are you sure the 2011 2nd row seats slide forward? "

not sure on the 2008 through 2011 on the sliding rear seats, I know my 2013 does, and it comes in handy at times, I belive it slides 4 inches...
I have a 2010 URJ200, and the 2nd row seats do slide fwd/back about 4".

What's the biggest off-road tire that can fit on a stock 200? I have 275 (E-load) BFG All-Terrains on the 4Runner. They've been great on trails, although I suspect they're a big reason why my MPGs suck.

I got a decent offer for the 4Runner by the way, so I'm getting closer to pulling the trigger on a LC. In the meantime I've been looking at the classifieds here and am seriously considering this: https://forum.ih8mud.com/uzj100-lx470/748293-2006-lx470-clean-lifted.html

Any thoughts? If I go for a lightly used 200 it will take me years to afford a lift/suspension, tire upgrade (unless I can negotiate tires into the purchase price), bumpers, etc. That LX is pretty much set up. I'm having a hard time wrapping my head around a couple of things:

1. The high (?) mileage. I'm only at 10K on the 4Runner which is worth the same as the asking price on the LX.

2. The price. I searched locally and found multiple stock LXes of the same year or newer, with fewer miles (80K +) for between $18-21K. Are the mods worth that much?
