I was just wondering if anyone was planning on going this year, and maybe for some of you that have gone before could give a little advice. Like wich campgrounds are good, places to eat, and maybe a trail or two. Right now I am looking into Moab Rimm Camp Park, Arch View Resort, and Koa. thanks for any input

Slickrock Campground is the headquarters of the event. Pretty much standard private campground but the center of the event. If you like more back country type camping let me know.

As far as trails what are you driving? And experience level?

I pretty much started wheelin last year and on a scale from 1 to 10 for experience I would say 3 to 4. I have an fj with some armor front and rear and some underneath. I think we are going to camp in a campground this year and do some exploring to see about tent camping for next year.

I'd keep to trails rated 5-6. Read the descriptions and go from there.

Fins & Things
Hells Revenge
Porcupine Rim
Metal Masher
Poison Spider

All good middle level trails. Cruise Moab is a great place to gain wheeling experience. You'll have great spotters available to you. Your truck as described should have no problems.

I'd love to go but have a European vacation planed for late May into early June, so I probably won't have the vacation time. I love the red rock country down there, I've visited the wheeling area but never been on the trails, it wa part of our trip to Arches NP. I was a total newbie and even though I had gotten input from folks and the wells book, wife was too nervous about going it alone, probably the right decision. Should be a good time and you'll meet a lot of HAM guys, sorry couldn't resist.:D

I as well have a Europe vacation for about 2 years...:grinpimp:
