What are your plans for the property this season? Finish up the two buildings, mill some wood and let it sit until next year to build with? Is there enough timber on your own property to build what you want?

A friend bought the parcel downhill from us last May, he’s looking at getting this sawmill with 14 hp engine and one 10’ extension. So he’ll cut wood for both of us, and I’ll help him with my loader.

The power company came and marked the location I need to extend the 3” PVC conduit to for their power pedestal.

Picked up my meter main to mount on the well house. Heading to the property last week in April to get the power installed.

We have a well pump customer who went hunting in NE Oregon near Joseph in the 1990s. On one hunt he saw a meadow with this yellow object he though was a bucket. Even with his spotting scope he couldn’t really tell what it was so he decided to go find out. It turned out to be a small yellow Lodgepole Pine tree. Excited about the find, he decided to dig it up and start grafting them. The tree became known as the Chief Joseph Pine.
Chief Joseph was the last Tribal Leader of the Nez Pierce tribe which called the Wallowa Valley home. The town Joseph was named in memory of him. I thought it’d be a great gift for my buddy Travis for his 40th birthday. Since I work on the well pump for the owner he said I could come browse the trees. These are the same trees as the ones at our Crater Lake Property except that the tree that Doug Will found would lose that ability to make chlorophyll in its needles which caused the needles to change color. As the season changes and the tree makes more chlorophyll the needles begin to turn green again however not the true green like the Lodgepole Pine.

Here’s the two I got for Travis and my Crater Lake Property in my backyard.
Below are bigger specimen. I’m wondering if anyone can guess how much these cost.

Picked up 12’ Klamath boat with 8HP Mercury motor in February.

Worked on the 12’ Klamath boat yesterday. Need to get a bigger drop hitch and longer safety chain. Received the boat title and new tags. Pressure washed the boat. Today I installed a trailer jack and replaced the old manual hand crank. Moved the spare tire from laying horizontal on the frame to vertical. Rattle can sprayed the boat trailer frame.

Replaced the old trailer wiring and the lights with LED.

Monday picking up new tires and wheels. Can’t wait to get it out on the water.

Repacked those wheel bearings with high temp grease? How fast those tiny tires spin their bearings has always left me a little frightened of them.
The new tires I’m getting Monday are a taller tire so that’ll definitely help.

Oregon has been getting hammered with snow. It’s now Friday April 15th and have had snow on the ground since Monday at about 5am. Absolutely crazy for this time of the year. I’ve been talking to Walter about the weather at the CL property. He said there’s over a foot with a winter weather advisory tonight for another 5”. The plan was to head there next Thursday through May 1 but bumping it a week. Need to get the power done but not in weather like this.

Same here, my wife and I are going up tomorrow.
Enjoy your trip! So looking forward to getting away. Even though it’s work it’s so rewarding. Cannot wait to have power and no more hearing the generator.

The gauges on your dash look like Speethut .
Have them mine on my 60 but the tech that installed them never got the fuel gauge to work.
Is yours working ? If so any hints on set up ?
Love the Crater lake area and Oregon period, so much to see and enjoy.

I bought a float less sending unit. But calibration is the same. You have a short time to calibrate. You do need to remove the float from the tank to calibrate. You need to calibrate the float ohms to the speedhut gauge. I actually made a wire whip and took my float out. Ran the whip from the 2 terminals at the fuel float and attached to the float. Went into the speedhut calibration mode for the fuel level. Programmed full then flipped the float to program empty.
Here’s my build thread page. It’s in the middle of the page.
