Shoots. I know REI and Dick's carry them, but would be nice to get that discount. Hopefully if any of us bring one up, that will guarantee no mosquitoes at all. ;) Hopefully Frank is right - drier in August, higher altitude - maybe no problem. Friends just got back from Mammoth and said they're bad. I'm hoping to make this one.

Yeah they won't often ship the fuel. You have to get that at a local store.

Just talked to a friend in Montana who is camping and he pointed me to the fine print on the Thermacell Radius. Looks like it needs 120v to charge so he is going back to bug juice for the remainder of the trip. I had the one Zach was talking about last summer and it worked great. I guess my 'big' camp setup will be the one Frank pointed out with the butane tank. End of mosquito repellant hijack.

Per above diagram that any USB port can be used to recharge the unit?

That might work too if you don't want to carry the butane. I have one of those jet boils so have the butane anyway.

I'm checking with my friend to see if he has an inverter to charge it. His report is it only stayed charged two hours, but not sure he gave it the 5 hour charge before diving in to mosquito country.

Any port in the storm right???

Couldn't you just use a USB in the truck?

Where going?

Where going?
Flying into Bozeman, MT to meet up with a buddy who is already there. Just talked with him and he's not recommending that unit. It does charge via usb - I misunderstood his text - but he said its difficult to tell if it's on and functioning which is a few of the negative reviews I saw on amazon. On the other hand, lots of reviews that rave about it 🤷‍♂️ Now back to our previously scheduled programming.

Have fun in Montana. We bought the battery operated version, have a plan, so will bring with us to test all the options.

Sounds like we will be prepared. I will say in 3 trips we have made up there, we have had zero bug issues. This trip is a little earlier in August and the snow melt is later in the season so there is that. However, humidity was like 8% yesterday up there so standing water is going to evaporate and take the bugs with it quite quickly.

It is ideal to use the charging block that came with the product. Each charger may have a different voltage and amp output that may or may not charge correctly. The back of the charging blocks say what they are rated at. That also applies to the car chargers.
