Could use some advice : Installed a pusher fan, keep blowing fuses

The spec sheet on the fan does not list how many amps it draws. I just assumed that everything was fine since it ran w/ the engine off and the 10A. So when i put in the 15A, now it runs w/ the engine on and doesn't blow the fuse. I guess its best to use the lowest rating fuse that does not blow, for safety.

Also to answer the other question, I used 12GA wire and the run from fan to battery is probably 6 feet at most.

not really....if the fan has a 20amp draw at inital turn on then you need to allow for that with a 20 amp fuse and the proper wire.

Find out what the total draw in amps the fan is rated at and use the correct rated fuse for that rating.

If the fan draws a max of 15 amps then you are good where you are....

electrical radiator fans consume a lot of power....because the ones that are made well (like SPAL) have powerful motors and they need plenty of electrical power for that job.
 
One thing to note is that the OP stated that his installed power wiring was 12 gauge, which is rated for 20A. So, depending on what he finds as the start up amperage, he may just need to up size the fuse. Good to hear that you got the fan working.

Yep! thanks for all the helpful into guys! This little fan moves A LOT of air, it makes a major difference in traffic and the A/C is much colder now. One of my main reasons for it was to hopefully reduce the possibility of HG failure.
