Best fishing is variable. Depends on what you want. Only problem is that gate that comes off Shipp road is closed sometimes.
Quick call to the Ranger station will figure that out.

I personally like "over landing" more in the winter when the leaves are off trees and it isn't hot. When the leaves are off you have way more panoramic views. Spring is good but wet, like flash flood wet.

Arkansas has so much outdoor stuff it is really hard to describe. I have been out in the middle of nowhere on a paved road and seen 50 bikers all together and 5 mins later seen a set of Lambo's, Ferraris or Ford GT450 go by taking advantage of curvy roads. Then you take a right on a dirt road drive for 30 mins and your camping on the White River and fishing.

My short list if anyone is interested in getting in on a trip :

Big Bend/Carlsbad caving
Arkansas (open to anything fun)
Western New Mexico around Malpais (caving too)
Tennessee/North Carolina mountains (we go at least once a year since my family has a cabin in Linville Falls, N.C.)
Death Valley (I'm probably going to teach a photo workshop there in the next year or so. It's amazing.)

I'd love resources to put together good info on places in Ark. and Tenn. N.C..

AR is easy. Google Tim Ernst, he has numerous books and photo stuff. He drives a 4Runner too.

I would love NM. Just got to get the 200 configured.

I've seen some of his stuff, but can't find anything that deals with vehicles. All hiking trails, swimming holes, waterfalls, etc. Do you have or know of any kind of guide (like the ones for CO, UT, etc) that's for offroad vehicles in the Ozarks?

The 100 is so smooth in snow. Drove all through Red River NM and Taos and through Amarillo home to Bama.
Loaded luggage on rack and piled 6 people in during NM and TX part of the trip

Have yall checked with the Razorback guys to see if they know any areas? I know Mardis knows alot of state park/fire road trails to add to what they may offer up.

I need a hundo

If anyone is up for TN, I know a spot just west of Chattanooga that's good for a long weekend. Fairly remote by east coast standards. I've been there 6-7 times and could provide logistics. I'd recommend sliders as there are a few big boulders and there are numerous water crossings. If it rains, the creeks swell to snorkel-lovin' heights.

Back to the K-Trail comments earlier. I was not aware of that trail until it popped up on my FB newsfeed via Murrah. https://www.facebook.com/groups/jeepswapshoparkansas/permalink/471565613005405/?pnref=story

I've spent $8k in 4 months on vacations and I have to drive 2 hours round trip to work right now.

however, this thread and your/nolan's trips are fueling the bug big time.

Ron's epic trip will be a major part of the "sell the wife plan"

"look honey we can all go!" kids would LOVE it, they are road warriors.

truck camp and car fish here. it would be one of those weekends you think about when your in your nursing home.

It is a short hike to the Buff River, White River confluence. Great fishing, fresh water supply great open field. I went there one day in the handy when I was camping down the road. This place is really cool. Maybe do it in OCT? LOL.
Along that line......in case we all wanted to go there in ONE vehicle HA!

This the official fuc off at work and daydream about places you'd rather be thread. I love it.

As it relates to "overlanding", this article resonated with me (related carry-over from the discussion we were having in the movie thread before the usher shined a light in our face and kicked us out).
