Things are about to get busy for me on the weekend prior to Moab so I took the day to do some PMIs and such.

The 80 got a fresh load of synthetic oil with Lucas, the diffs got drained and reloaded and the propellor shafts greased.

Everything looks perfect, solid, no leaks.

I arranged the rear section with my CO2 bottle, ARB fridge and tool bags. I got this stuff all secured so it won't kill us if I run out of talent while wheeling this beast.

you may wonder why?

My pink panty Crawler is in bad shape!

as it is, she's in the shop getting a head gasket done and some work on the head!

as I spoke w/ the guys doing the work they told me that the there's a slightly play in the combustion chamber. the pistons have a minor play, in other words, there might be a need for engine repairs sooner than I thought:mad:

As it is, there's no oil on spark plugs and no smoke coming out of the muffler.

She consumes oil about a 1/4 in a week and half but so does my wife's 80

I like my 80 but I don't even want to start adding part list of the repairs of overhauling the engine.

So I said fix the head and go to Moab!:grinpimp:

I am not canceling my vacation to the 4wheeling MECCA for an over haul engine!


so what you al think? ...Is it my wife's 80 Moab wheeler?:hillbilly:

Now near my house there's an 85 4runnerw/ 33's for sale for about $2000.00

I might just buy that Runners as a daily driver.

My Paloma is too heavy to drive around(cheap on diesel tho')

...and my 80, well....it is what it is (a gas guzzler and a heavy ass girl)
 
Sell something and fund the 80 rebuild
 
The trails we are planning on are all rated difficult. I do not want to rain on your parade, but I don't want a stock 80 on the trails we are going on. If you want to come out and play, that is fine, there are tons and tons of trails a stock 80 will do fantastic on. Just not the ones we are going on. We already have a big group and to have to work a unlocked 80 with no armor through everything will be too much of a tax on the large crew we have.

I'll get my Pink Panty Crawler going.

..and sorry no funds for armor this year and anyways, she needs body work and a paint job!

a few dents on the rocker panels will not hurt the doors anymore since the driver side opens half way and for fully open we get a clunk from it .

The passenger side is dented already from the Round Up this year!:hillbilly:


The alarm system still works tho'!:grinpimp:
