I have been shooting my grandmothers s&w hammerless air weight .38 special with a 7lb tigger job (12lb when new) and it is super super sweet.

That will be Tisa's carry gun very soon. Just waiting until the gun show in a few weeks to see if I can get one there with the crimsion trace pretty cheap.

The trigger job makes all the difference in the world. My mid 80's grandmother could shoot it with no issues.

This. Simple, reliable, safe, and potent.

Personally, I'd prefer one in 357 though. You can always shoot .38 in it.

The size difference between the 239/225 and the 228/229 is negligible, so i'd go with the 228 or 229. In my opinion, an old W. German 228 is about the finest handgun ever made.

I have a 239 so I am going to let her shoot it. The only problem is mine is a 40 and not a 9. I just thought the single stack was thinner than the 229. I haven't actually shot a 229 though so like you said, the difference may not matter.

the 239 was my first pistol and I wish I had gotten the 229 instead. The 239 doesn't hold enough rounds.

The initial double action pull on the Sig's is close to that of a revolver. So, unless the plan is to cock the Sig before firing the first round, this argument would pretty much eliminate them too, right?

Good point.

head to a gun shop/range and spend an hour...then go back in a week and spend another hour...the option to try multiple guns over multiple days will be well worth it.

She'll likely end up with a single stack 9mm...I've got 4 right now (Ruger, Kahr, Keltec and mmm...well, another) Keltec is a cheap but effective piece...the Kahr is TIGHT but is what I used to qualify with...Ruger is on the bench yet, just got it back and put 50 thru, but still unsure... (tho, it's in the suitcase this week)

Won't matter what she buys when it's not accessible :)

S&W Airweight...on my short list...you don't want, or she doesn't?

Heather loves shooting the NAA 22mag...still working her into the bigger stuff...oddly, the .44 Trekker scares her :)

She does plan to go to a gun shop/range and try a few out. In the end, it's all about what she feels comfortable with. My original post was just to see if anyone had any specific guns they either owned or had knowledge about that I could add to her list to go hold and shoot. Price isn't really a consideration/concern in what she gets.

I am the one that said a revolver wouldn't be a good fit for her. No personal experience though other than watching females try and qualify with them. She may shoot one and really like it.

The 12lb was what I had a problem with. I think Glocks have a 5lb trigger. If she could get a .38 with the "trigger job," then this could work. Would the gun shop be able to do this or would it have to be taken somewhere?

I need a "trigger job"!

She jumped the string and I hit her high in the "Black Hole". Found the blood trail and then my arrow. She was perfectly alive and kickin' after 4 hours. She got up and ran off with a nice 8pt. Damn this archery stuff. My first deer with a bow and all I got was a long hike and a long wait just to have her brush it off like nothing happened. Seriously bummed to say the least.

I'm sure she is more bummed than you

It's sad to through and through an animal for 'sport' IMO.

She will either slowly bleed out or die from an infection of sorts.

At least you got your arrow back tho.

I just ordered a p226. It'll be my first sig. But, my dad has his from his navy days. Says its a hell of a pistol.
My wife wants one of those 'bodyguard' revolvers. But, I think that's mainly because the guy teaching her shooting class kind of sold them on the idea of its size, reliability and the built in laser.
FYI, here in meridian is a new indoor shooting range and you/she can shoot every model you listed. It's modern outfitters on hwy 39n.

First of all, we have an overpopulation of deer in Oxford and I'm specially licensed by the City of Oxford under animal control policy to shot deer on certain properties before they tear up any more landscaping and worse, kill someone on the highway. Secondly, I do this for sport AND meat and unless your a vegetarian, someone has to kill your food. I'd rather do it myself.

Geez, I thought this was the hunting/shooting thread. I'm not proud of it. I just thought I'd post up an experience that happened to me and others could relate because I know this happens to other hunters.

Charcoal....you are good. Overpopulation is a major issue and don't worry with his comments.

Shot a Ruger LCR a few days ago while in CO...I really liked it...5 shot, laser, lightweight, smooth...

I know. My food is killed. Not maimed by amateur shooter.

It IS awful with all the damage this insane deer population has caused the community.

Try poison tips, maybe?

Lastly, I wouldn't be so sensitive about it. If you enjoy it, kudos to you. I do dumb s*** too. Don't let a sarcastic message board comment get to you. :P

When you start working on the overpopulation of these knucklehead criminals, I'll have your back
