Looking for a little advice. I have an 82 FJ40 and an 89 FJ62, so I am familar with Landcruisers. I went for a test drive in a 1977 BJ40 yesterday. I have been interested in a diesel for some time, but had never driven one. Could anyone give me some pointers on potential issues that I should look for - mainly about the engine, I am good with the body. One specific question that I had was about the revs of the engine. It seems to be geared very low, which I am not surprised about, but the rpms seem to be governed fairly low also. Is that normal. The engine is showing a little wetness around the injectors, is that an area of concern? Also, I wondered about some of the differences between US versions and foreign versions. I know that drum brakes up front is one of them. Additionally, any general comments about Costa Rica imports are welcome. Thanks for your assistance.
