Next up is finishing up the fitting and welding on the sliders. All done except the gussetting and a shot of underbody coating:

So your running a 1'' body lift with stock springs and 315/75 Mickey Thompson Baja MTZ's right? And the Flares are gone. So it looks like the body lift gave you just enough room to bring the sliders straight off the frame. Nice...

tufff looking rig mate
under the front rhs seat is that a little heater?
and curiosity mate in the first few pics the front number plate is that a NT- OUTBACK AUSTRALIA- plate looks the same style?

yes it is a heater. its is for the rear heat, ducts go under the console...

the front plate i believe is Australian. It was the previous owner's and he really wanted to keep it. I wouldnt mine one, but just haven't tried pursuing to get one.

and thanks!

A couple more questions:

Any issues with steering, T-case, or Tranny linkages with the 1'' body lift?

Did you drop the rear bumpstops at all to keep the 315's from rubbing?

With the TJM front bumper and heavy winch are you thinking about adding a front spacer to level it out?

I really do like the low COG with the 315's!

no issues with any linkage. I did have to adjust the transmission linkage, but really easy: loosen bolt, slide, tighten bolt, 45 seconds.

no bumpstop adjustments yet... dont think I'm going to need them either...

It does have a 1.5" spacer in front to level off for the TJM and the mile marker 12,000lb winch.

Thanks, I really like it too... next step will be regear and 37"s with just a little lift (like 2")... but that will be a while out. I've still got to finish the rear bumper, finish the on board air system, finish the light system, and get some wheelin in.... next trip is june 4th, so there will be some action shots before long!

Got the sliders completely done this weekend! Didnt have the camera with me, so no pictures. Truck is ready for wheelin this coming weekend! Should have pics of the finished sliders and of wheelin next week.

Also got to meet a fellow Cruiserhead from the forum, stopped by to check out the rig and chat!

Got some wheelin in this last weekend at OCC. Cruiser did good! New tires performed well, but did have some good chunking. Not sure if it was tires or trails. Will keep wheelin and figure it out. Didnt break anything, and actually wound up having to drive it back to Ft. Smith from Hot Springs, AR because another buddy broke his rig and I ended up trailering it for him.

Two things came of the trip:
1. Next thing to do will NOT be the bumper. I dinged up a lower control arm (LCA) mount on the pass side pretty good, so its going to need some armor/attention.

2. I now have a new mysterious noise. Its a thumping that sounds like somthing has worked loose and it coincides with suspension. I'll be working on diagnosing it later...

Concerning number 1, I've thought to either wrap the whole mount in 1/4" plate, but in looking to see what others have done i found this:

.

My thoughts are something like this would help with sliding over and not catching on the mount, but I worry that it would decrease my breakover angle and ability to get a tire on something. Its either going to be a design like this, or wrap the thing in plate. Thoughts?

Rear Control Arm Mounts

Cory,

Those mounts are petty tough, but they do hang up on rocks. I still haven't done anything to mine. I dont no that I would want to add a peace of tubing as long as in that pic but something to make it an easier transition would help.

Thad said that he stopped by. I need to stop in.

Ya, I've since decided to plate them... my passenger side one is beat up real bad. I figure if I still need a slider, I can add it later, and it definately wont be that long.

Thad did stop by right before OCC. I think I was finishing up the sliders when he dropped by. I should have the rig back in Springfield and back working on it in July. you're welcome to drop by when I get it back up there and am there workin on it!

OK, Good news... for those that knew about my running problems, they are all fixed, cruiser is runnin great.

Now on to some progress, finally got around to getting the rear bumper done. Heres some pics:

Start.... cutting off the rear frame cross member:

See how much it sticks out...

Cut it off:

Nothing ever fits like it should with my projects...

Start tacking it together and checking winch mounting (jack is supporting the winch plate):

Pulled off and ready to weld up everything:

I still have a few little things I want to do... I'm going to add a plate on top of the bumper to cover up the gap between it and the tailgate... but thats about it.

Next on the list is armoring the LCA mounts on the back... then mounting the winch and wiring it in. While I'm wiring it in, I'll also be upgrading the wiring to support more additions through adding a secondary fuse panel, wiring up in cab controls for both winches, new controls for the front flood lights, a 2000W power inverter, and prewiring the onboard air setup, rock lights, and rear flood lights.

Also for those curious, total time on sliders was around 40 hours. Total time on the bumper was right at 22 hours. bumper parts were provided by Luke at 4x4 Labs (4x4Labs.com).
