Update time again... got a few more wheelin trips in, found some more weak links... lower control arms on the rear have to be replaced with something heavier... managed to bend both of them. Soon as the funds situation approves, I'm going to get some johnny joints and some DOM and make some new ones... til then its still wheelable, its just not streetable. Probably start working on parts for a front 3link at the same time.

Until then, I gotta work on getting it even wheelable. Came across a decent deal on some tires, and decided to jump on it... they have a bit of dry rot, but for wheeling only tires, i dont really care... if it was to do 60 down a freeway, might be a different story, but its about to the point I only wheel it, and in a pinch, drive it to work. Tires I ended up getting are 38.5 x 11.00 boggers... now boggers werent my first choice, but i like the tall and narrow and the price was right... now the joy of making them fit. For the rear, I'll just need to install a 1" bump stop. to prevent excessive uptravel. for the front, I'm looking at some rear inner fender work, trim some off the bumper corners, and some other trimming on the inner fender/front core support interface. No idea what its goina take on the top of the fender opening, but if its too aggressive, i'm going to look at using a larger bump stop to limit the trimming required. should have some flex pics up before long....

Ok, so I dont have any great pics of the tires... and none of the cutting (thought I did). Its wayy too cold outside to mess with takin some, so heres what I do have...

Some comparison between old and new:

Havent looked at this thread in a bit. Man, it looks a little different now. Very nice work!

Looks really good! I like the elimination of the rear factory tails. I have been thinking about how to make some rear amour with LED lights in them.
I like your style!

Looks good.

How are you liking the Boggers?

Oh and if you don't mind me asking, where did you get the slotted rotors for the brake job?

Thanks,

Tucker

Thanks... its always changing... By Feb it should be completely different again...

Thanks... I thought about that, but I wanted them in a place where I knew for sure they wouldnt get damaged... so I went tailgate...

Havent got to play with them really yet. First wheelin trip is Jan 7th-9th, so I should know more after that. Full brake setup is DBA. Retailer is MAF (Man-a-Fre). Honesty, for a trail rig, I dont know that I'd go back with the rotors. Pads I really like, but slotted rotors tend to hold too much junk that squeaks for my wheelin...

That is good info, I hadn't thought about them collecting debris in the slots. I think I will stick to a good vented set, but I am going to look into the DBA pads.

Also, can't wait to see pics of the first trip on the boggers.

Thanks,

Tucker

X2 Some how missed the color swap and sweet tail light setup! Truck looks great man.

oh yeah.....the boggers are huge

Well it may not make it out for the Jan trip if I cant get the stupid f'n brakes fixed. I've been fighting bad brakes for quite a while and I'm about ready to set the truck on fire and be done with it.

Its either an internal seal in the master cylinder thats causing intermitten pressure loss, a bad brake booster that works part of the time, or a small leak in a metal line thats allowing air to come back into the brake system, but doesnt leak enough for me to find it. OR the ABS system or LSPV is screwing with something. All I know is its makin me mad.

Step one will be another master cylinder and make a line diagram of the brake system. Check all the metal lines for leaks, and check the calipers for leaks. truck already has brand new stainless lines instead of rubber, and none of them are leaking.

If that doesnt do it, I've going to rig a line pressure gauge and try and figure out what my line pressures are while driving. Hopefully that will help me figure out if its a caliper issue or a line pressure issue.

If its line pressures, I should be able to compare engine off pressure with engine on pressure to determine if the booster is doing what it should.

The really irratating part is sometimes it has great brakes, sometimes it can power thru the brakes in low range. just depends on its mood.

That's where I get lazy. I'd just take it in to Meineke, let them evaluate it, tell me what's wrong, then I'd take it home and fix that :)

Eh... Its too complicated for its own good, and for what I'm using it for. Its getting redesigned and simplified. No more ABS. No more LSPV. No more extraneous plumbing.

That's looking great, Cory! So out of curiousity, how did you get those switches to work? Also, have you decided on anything for the front suspension? I'm in the same boat with a bent radius arm. However, I need to do something quick. Now all of my bushings are shot!

BTW- Love the Dodge, here's mine:

Nice setup Chad.

Did get the switches working... requires the use of diodes, but they work great. I can help ya through if need be.

Front suspension will have to wait a little while. Brakes have to get fixed... then its a money priority issue, with the suspension redo close to the bottom of the list.

Where did you order your BPV from? I need to get one of those for mine.

I love that tire size! I wish TSL made other tread patterns in that size...Pit Bull needs to get some tall skinny tires into production.

Really need to update this....

1st: Brakes. Redid that whole mess... works pretty good. Still think I have a slightly flakey master, but at least it stops. I now have more experience in bending, flaring and fitting metal lines than I ever cared too...

2nd: Steering. I managed to bend the tie rod wheelin on the farm (still not sure how that happened). Got an HD from MAF. Got it installed... way better. Now the only thing left is ends to break (hopefully).

3rd: Tires. So maybe a little bit of dry rot is still a bad thing. had to put my spare on because my front right was beginning to look a little scary. Even at only 12 psi. still holds air so thats a plus.

4th: The beating. so even on just my 50 acres I've about managed to destroy my poor body. The whole drivers side is slightly caved in now. More random dents all over the place. AND I actually managed to damage a tail light. Didnt think that was possible with their new location, but oh well. Chewed up part of the grommet, but didnt break the light. Straightened the tailgate back out with channel locks and a hammer, and it holds a tail light again! :)

5th: Brother. I have since applied decals to the side of the truck care of my little brother. He originally had this idea after a few cold ones starring at my Duece. However since I'm getting rid of it, it was decided they go on the cruiser... and behold:
