Correct replacement for broken leaf spring

Save yourself the headache. Just buy a entire new set of leaf springs. And possibly prepare yourself for additional mechanical repairs. Unfortunately the SA "Restored" cruisers tend to need a lot of work to make reliable. I hope you do not have that issue.

Thanks and I agree with your take. I would say it was "refreshed" in some areas but not actually restored.

Based on the pics your front springs don't even match each other to begin with - likely they are a conglomeration of random leafs/springs which is pretty typical of South American 40 series. You can see the shackle angles are very different side to side and the spring clamps are not the same side to side either. Do not be surprised if you also end up needing to replace shackles, pins, and U-bolts, and spring plates as all are likely replaced but old parts.

unless you think you are likely to add a heavier winch later I would recommend a pair of OME CS001F (and new bushings) which should keep the height around the same and will likely ride and drive a LOT better. I can have a setup in your hands within a few days or so

Thanks for the recommendation. I'll check that out.

Probably Cruiser Outfitters has what you need in stock...

100% anything/everything they might need, and we speak fluent FJ45 and LatAm Cruisers :D

@BeHunting, great looking 45LP-K :cool:

We would love to help sort out your suspension woes. Those front springs look to be in the 1.5-2" range at current, which would be easily replaced with an OME or Dobinsons leaf spring. It does appear you may have a tad bit of 'Carolina Squat' i.e. the front taller than the rear, which could easily be resolved with some appropriately taller modest rear shackles that will account for the new/fresh front springs. Let us know if you'd like to hop on a call with one of our seasoned 45 suspension guys to discuss needs. We could be shiping any/all of that as soon as today!
