Same exact problem with the ST MAXX.
Also you'd do just as good in the mud with a highway tire as you would the maxx. I really liked my ST MAXX tires until the bead issues came about. They never were good in mud though.

No problems on mine... I believe they're at ~40k miles now on my F-150... I always kept property inflated based on load. 42/45 w/ 300 lbs always in the bed (because I had add a leafs in the rear). Went up to 48/55 towing.

As a follow-up, I've got a couple thousand miles on these tires now and they continue to impress me. Even offroad, they fare very well, especially for an A/T.
Johnny, which ones did you end up getting? The AT3 or ATP?

I've been going back and forth with Discount Tire on newly installed C-range 275/70R17 AT3's, seems that finding 4 that will balance may not be possible - even after road force balancing. So, they're swapping them for another brand. O well.

That's strange. I didn't have any balancing issues with mine. Are you sure it isn't the wheel?

Positive - I rode in on my Hankook's and everything was smooth as glass. Left with these, and they've been awful - this morning they felt as if they'd flat-spotted overnight, and they shimmy at all speeds. RFV helped somewhat, but they are still not right.

Well, more AT3's, more road force balance; 3oz on one, 6.5oz on another, and 5.5oz on the other two and they're mostly balanced.:bang::rolleyes:

Really weird... any chance you can get a plant of mfg and then contact Cooper to see if they have known batch issues coming out of that plant?

@gregnash I will check, good idea.

I noted this issue on my Discount Tire survey, which displeased the store manager muchly. He mentioned they did use a Hunter balancing machine the second time around, I asked him why he put tires he knew to be so far out of spec (they exceeded all standards for runout the Hunter measures) on my truck. No reply.

Hmmmm.... that is pretty schisty... Wonder what Cooper would have to say about that or even Discount Corporate.
