How and how not buy a $1000 truck.
For the life of me, I can't figure out some people. I have been trying to sell a $1000 truck for several months to a guy that we all know but for this story we will call him Robert E. Lee or "Bob" for short.
So Bob took his 40 to the river and swamped the motor. I was in possesion of a 60 with a damn near new 2F. I didn't own the truck but was selling it for a priest friend in Southaven. The 60 wasn't in running condition as the fuel tank was filled with trash but I have heard it run and have even driven it around the neighborhood. A former club BOD member can verify this. Also the original key just decided to quit working.
Well, Bob
a.) doesn't have any money but gave me a $300 check that I couldn't cash almost a month ago (BTW, a check that can't be cashed isn't a payment, it's a piece of paper with a promise on it. Might as well use a sticky note.)
b.) wants to make sure the truck has good compression before he buys it.
c.) can't do the compression check himself so he keeps delaying and avoiding my calls and texts and
d.) thinks he is in charge of the negotiation
Meanwhile we have the Loneranger Barry who has cash in hand and wants the damn truck as is.
Bob and I had a heated discussion at midnight last night ending with me getting the point across to either s*** or get off the pot. Bob got his panties in a wod and came by this morning at 7:00 a.m. to get the forementioned check that I couldn't cash.
I sent Barry a text at 7:20 saying the truck was his. Barry was in front of my house at 8:43. I pulled the truck to his house and am home writing this at 10:10a.m.
So the morals of the story are:
a.)don't be a dick when you are broke and
b.)sometimes trucks don't need to be sold, they just need to be bought.
Sorry, Bob. I don't put up with bull****.
Thanks Barry! Enjoy the truck!
