Something like that.

The mileage sucks, but I knew that going into it. It's a half ton gas burner; I never expected it to get decent mileage towing. What these trucks need are giant fuel tanks. Another 40 gallons or so of capacity would be sweet.

Same here. My left coast friends call it Heather MPG. That's anything under 8 MPH cause that's about the best I get out of the Thundra when towing. But I agree on the additional fuel tank. I gotta fill up a LOT when towing.

Ha! I got about 7mpg (maybe) in the Tundra on the last leg from Monroe to Florence last night. That 5.7 drinks gas...I could literally see the fuel needle moving.

Great info to know. I am looking to get into a tundra as my daily and tow rig. Any other dislikes or issues to report?

Can you wait for the Tundra diesel to be released in the future? Should be interesting..

I agree. This has been rumored for quite some time now, but the commitment seems to finally be there. Most were hoping for 2015, but it looks like it will probably be in the 2016 model year Tundras.

5.0L Cummins V8...no documented specs yet, but the intel suggests around 350HP and 600-650 ft. lbs. of torque. That would make for a very impressive Tundra if you ask me.

I agree too. If I could wait and had a bucket of money, I'd buy the diesel.

Except for the lousy MPG while towing, I REALLY like mine. I drive it every day.

I called transferflow last week about this tank. It's about $1250 shipped to my door. While they would have sold it to me over the phone, they encouraged me to work with their local dealer who also does installation. They said that the dealer got price breaks and much better shipping options, and basically inferred that I'd get a better deal through them...especially if I got them to install it.

So I called them. They don't stock the tanks locally and had to call and talk to the same person at transferflow that I had just gotten off the phone with. About an hour later they call back and quote me $1250 for the tank, plus $200 for shipping, plus 4.5 hours of installation at $100/hour, plus sales tax on ALL of that. My cost over the phone was $1250 to the door with no tax since it shipped from CA.

I've been trying to get my head around installing it myself since then.

I'll believe it when I see it.
The article I read stated EPA rules coming in 2021 make this a really bad ROI for Toyota.

I just don't see them jumping in 2016, but I am a fan if they do.

The cost premium of diesel over gas and all the extra maintenance crap to put up with just don't sell me.
At least not to pull 5 or 6k lbs down the road.

EDIT: if the GOP maintains stride, maybe the crooks at the EPA will get thrown out.
