I've never even seen a tritip let alone cooked one. My first thought after reading your post above was to tell you to either go back to the store and get a bigger piece of meat or to correct the location of the decimal place. 1.84#??? That sounds like a ribeye to me.

I took a break from my Ackerman angle research to look into this tritip business. This is what you want to do:

Season the tritip with whatever dry seasoning you prefer 30 minutes or more before you get ready to cook.

Set the egg up for direct cooking and get it as hot as you can (like in the 600+ range).

Put the tritip on for about 3 - 4 minutes per side. All you're doing here is searing it. Leave it on there until it looks awesome on the outside.

Take it off and let it rest while you set the egg up for indirect and get the dome temp stabilized around 350 degrees.

Once it's stabilized, put the tritip back on and cook it to an internal temp of 125 - 130...should take about 45 minutes.

Pull it and eat.

Went by ACC today. Brian put an 80 dash and V8

in a 55.

Oh boy, a 55. V8? Like the engine and transmission choice, but the stock dash would have been way cooler. Gray would have been a better color for the dash and carpet, IMO, given the color of the rig (Which would be even better in smurf blue and white).

Looks like a supercharged 1fz to me.
You're right JT. It's a 55 body on an 80 chassis (coil springs - heck yeah!) with a supercharged 6. ACC's got a thread on it Lenny and I have been following for a couple of years. I'll see if I can find it and post it........ULTRA cool build!

(Going THAT far with a build, I would have had to have gone with a V8......but it's very cool either way)

Thanks DNP. I was under the truck when he was explaining it. He cut half the body out ( front seat area to firewall ) and grafted in the 80 section. Nuts. Yes coils and paint from a 2010 lc. Pretty cool ride. It will live in colorado.

For those of you that followed Coberly's 60 on a V8 80 chassis that got wrecked.....

The guy I got my 100 from bought the wreck and is about to do a stretched 40 hot-rod Crawler on 40's

He built a 4-seat Twisted Customs Cruiser when I did mine and had one if the finest Mini Trucks on the planet before that.

Expect one of the coolest Toyota based Cruisers on the planet
