Chris,
Has BFG changed their rubber compound recently (negatively affecting their longevity)?
The BFG A/T's that came factory on my FNL's '10 tundra are done at 36K. He's rotated them religiously every 5K miles and they see 80/20 road and dirt respectfully. Looking/asking around over here, it doesn't seem to be an isolated case. "Folks" are saying BFG messed with the compound (specifically the T/A KO and KM2) with the result being substantially less miles out of a set. Any truth to this? I imagine you sell a ton of these--what has your experience been as of late?
I'm still running the KM2's you sold me right after the 2010 CRAWL. They have 36K miles on them and still have 60% tread. Best performing and longest-lasting M/T I've ever owned. I'll be going back with another set when it's time---if BFG hasn't pulled any shenanigans with their formula.
Justin
The OE tire is a different tire than retail 60% of time. Same with tires you buy from Sams and Costco. The normal person can see the 2 or 3 /32s less or tread compound. This is the way the sell Michelins for less. Michelin is known for having 4 part numbers for same size for different manufacturers or major resellers.
That is why having a good tire man like Chris @ 49 tire really helps he gets you the correct tire.
Those numbers do mean something on a tire.
