So, now that my BJ lift is in I want to put manual hubs on the front. What is a good price to pay for a used set of stock IFS hubs?

My reading says that this will help preserve my CV assemblies.

Some threads also mention disconnecting something in the front diff. Do I need to do this? I would think that if the front drive train is disconnected at the T-case and at the hubs, nothing in between would turn.

Anything under $50 seems like a decent price for IFS hubs, you may get lucky if you aren't in a hurry... I can't recall if you need any other parts when going from the ADD drive plates to hubs (I don't think you do...), but I know you need the big locking nuts and lock washer when you go from auto hubs to manual.

Once the hubs are on you don't have to do anything differently if you don't want to. Some people like to "hotwire" the ADD diff so the axle shaft is always locked by rearranging vacuum lines.... Have fun!

Assuming this is on the '94, nope no other parts needed. Remove the ADD drive plates, pop the hubs on.

You don't really NEED to do anything in the front ADD diff.

...which is pretty retarded if you ask me.

You get manual hubs to stop the shafts from turning %100 of the time... ok...

So now you're jacking up a system by modding it in a way it was never intended..

But you've already got the hubs at this point so...

OTOH, leave it alone and you can lock the hubs in the winter time and it will be the same as if you never added the hubs... You can carry on just like you've got shift on the fly, 4WD... W/o having to get out.

Then just lock or unlock them to suit your needs...

The locking mechanism isn't in the diff, so it's not like you're heading off a problem of /cough POSChevyIFSthermallinearactuator /cough... a complicated system that will leave you stranded someday.

You can even easily do away with it by replacing the long tube side with a non ADD axle tube...

What do you want for the drive flanges that you take off? I may be interested. PM me.

Those things must a dime-a-dozen at the wreckers. I'm sure they are much cheaper than shippng internationally.

I'll probably keep them anyway, as a trail fix and for if I return it to stock.

I met up with an out of town buddy for wheeling this past weekend and he had a spare set for me. Price = nada.
