Funny story - my wife and I drove to BC before Christmas and I suddenly remembered that I had “summer” grade washer fluid in the reservoir. Needless to say it quickly froze up.
Some benzes run a coolant line through the wiper fluid reservoir and heated nozzles to make sure it doesn’t freeze up.. I’m unsure what happens when that stuff hits the windshield when it’s that cold out..

Actual de-icer has a crazy -30F freeze point that I've never seen fail. I use it in all of our rigs, including my plow truck to melt ice spray. It just doesn't freeze.

The battery! I had my mechanic check it with my last oil service and he said it was fine. We had minus 40 degrees here in Bozeman and guess what, hard starting and needed a new battery. The old one was 7 years and OEM with 62,000 miles.
I put battery warmers under my batteries when I'm going to super cold areas. Then connect them to a splitter with the block heater. Remote start is a winner also.
