Did you somehow eliminate the A343F CEL codes through that build?

Looks like tranny and engine ECUs were removed and CEL is now repurposed.

It would seem that way. Where is the transmission ECU located? I did not realize they were separate.

What year was OBD2 introduced to the 80? 1994 or 1995? Maybe it's possible to swap a OBD2 compliant ECU from a US 80 with the A442 into a 1997 FZJ80 to get rid of the transmission codes?

Nevermind. Looks like OBD2 was introduced in 1996, but the A443 was there as well.

I got a brand new (never installed) ECU PN 89661-60340 that I may put up for sell if someone is interested. This was going to be installed on a South American 2005 MT 80 .

Besides the ECU what other module/ecu is required to pair with on a MT truck? If you provide me with a PN could source it out too.

Cheers

That's the flipping one!! Let me know what your price is.

I don't think there's anything else needed for a MT truck. The diff locker computer is separate.

I cross referenced that ECU part # and it seems to be applicable to GCC spec vehicles which all came with sub tanks. I believe the ECU controls the sub tank system post 1995, so wouldn't it throw a code if those components are missing?

If not, that would be a wicked test to see if it works. Also you could delete your EGR code free.

I have no clue. It's the best chance we've got, so I'm willing to find out.

Johnny, It would be great if you can find a wiring diagram that uses that ECU. Then we can check pinouts vs US domestic FZJ80 and also figure out if there are subtank signals we need to bypass. If you can get the EWD shoot me a PM and I'll be glad to help out.

Thanks for the offer Tom! If I can get my hands on it then this is the route we'll go down next. As of right now I'm not even sure if the ECUs use the same connector, but it's our best chance of making this work.

The ECU was sold in South America (Venezuela) and those 80s did not come with Subtanks. They are LHD, Gas, OBDII, MT however they informed me that in order for the truck to start I would also need the Immobilizer ?! PN 89780-60010.
Can some one please check on that? I was under the impression the keys on the 80s did not come with a transponder , unless it was offered in 2004 Venezuelan specs 80s?

Not sure that's right. That part number is listed as "not applicable" to the model I found that has the ECU part number you listed above, so we know for sure the immobilizer wasn't *always* required.

Awesome, wondering if I should get it since it is a new piece as well for a really good price..

Like I sent you in my PM, I'm in the market, with money. Please let me buy it!

The connectors are the same as on a 1995-97 USA FZJ80 -- see image of 89661-60340 below (packed in bubble-wrap). But without the EWD we don't know if the signals that go to the pins in the connectors are the same or if there are additional or fewer signals. Therefore the EWD is a must have.

According to a trusted source, the 1997 US-spec FZJ80 ECU pinout is the same as 89661-60340.

Will post more info as I get it.

...pinout is the same as either 89661-60340 or 89661-60340...

There must be a typo here as those two numbers are the same.

This swap was done locally here with this ECU (brand new OEM sourced from Japan): 89661-60340

It is a direct fit and does clear the transmission related (NSS, etc.) codes.

That said, the tach pick-up wire/harness section does not operate because the provision seems to be not there in the ECU. I will be at the swapping shop tomorrow and will take pictures of the ECU where the connectors go in.
