Okay, time for another update. Been pretty busy but managed to get some time to make some progress. got another 3 injectors, machined them and they are fitted. A mate of mine is going to help me machine up some spacers to use to clamp them in, and will use the standard forks so it should work well.

Other than that, Got the top mount nearly done, just need to do the cold side of the piping, cooling system is back together too. So once we do the injector stuff it should be ready to (hopefully) run.

Why yes. Yes I do. It's very close, just waiting on getting some adapters machined to fit to the injectors.

In the mean time, i decided to get it running as motivation, so i rigged up a concoction of backyard looking washers and washer hose, managed to get it running.

Had a few problems getting it going, but it turned out I'd put the cam disc in 180 degrees out in the injector pump. After fixing that it fired up straight away, sounds very smooth and quiet too. Couldn't run it for long as it didn't have a valve cover on and i wasn't keen on glazing bores either

Hey guys have just been havin a read on this thread. Awesome stuff. Any updates how it has come along? Wouldn't mind maybe doing something similar myself.

Its slowly getting there. I have it running and just started driving it. I still have a few things to finish off on it. It doesn't go too badly, but probably not worth doing. It take's a lot of effort and modifications to make it work, if you bought a complete 1KD engine you are better off keeping the common rail on it, and if you were determined to have a direct injected 4 cylinder, you'd be best off with a 13b/14b/15b engine. The only reason I did this swap was because I had enough left over 1KD parts to make it work

Just got a reply back from Ooms about that 1KD mechanical conversion.

"The injectors and fuelpump are selfmade, this conversion is not possible with an oem fuelpump, you need a powerfull pump for this swap."

Gerg, I did take the valve's out and the seats are fine. The 1KZ and 1KD engines share the same crank and block. I have a new set of pistons I bought for my 1KD that I was rebuilding, but turned out the block was badly worn so it would have needed a rebore. So I have fitted the 1KD pistons and rods into my 1KZ. The head bolts straight on too, and the exhaust pattern is the same. The biggest issue is injectors, with the 1KD being common rail. I read of a member on here using 1HD-T injectors that were machined down, and I have one and it'll definitely fit without a problem. Injector line's won't be a big problem, and I have a good idea on making some clamps to hold the injectors down too. It'll take a while to get it complete though.
Sir, May i know how you modified the 1HD injector to fit the 1kd head?
