Reached out to GROM today (its the 15th), and they let me know that they have begun processing the group buy orders and people should be receiving notifications with shipping numbers over the next few days based on the order they were placed.

Thanks for your great updated news :)

I spoke with Grom yesterday. I was told that these shipments would not go out until the 27th. Their reasoning this time is because they 'lost' a shipment coming from CA to TX (where they moved to). Just prior to receiving the email that everyone got, I called the morning of to find out when it would get shipped (I was unaware of a specific ship date for 'group' buys) and was told that all shipments would be going out on the 15th and that they were packaging them as we spoke. So, if they were in the process of processing/packaging the products on the 8th to ship out on the 15th, how am I getting told that the shipment from CA to TX became lost and no one will be getting their products until they're shipped on the 27th. I'm beginning to wonder if it's ever going to get shipped at all. Has anyone else reached out to this company? If so, what were you told?

Yes they will ship just as they did for the last two group orders. Please don’t spread speculation and FUD. If it’s too long of a wait I’m sure you could cancel your order still but it’s not like you are going to find another place selling this product.

GROM is shipping orders now based on the order they were received. Mine is supposed to be out for delivery today. Feel free to post individual updates on when you get yours or whatever, but individual shipping updates are between GROM and the individual orderer.

Then I guess I need to call because I ordered almost instantly when the codes became available and when I go on their website with my order email and order date it still says not yet shipped.

FWIW, I called yesterday and they also told me that they will receive their shipment of inventory on the 27th and that they would be shipped out and we should have them in hand hopefully before the end of the month. It sounds like they didn't have enough inventory on hand and shipped out what they did have (might have been a few) and will ship the remainder when they receive their shipment.

Cool @andymmiami thanks for the update. This whole process has gone a lot slower than I was hoping. I would have had them start the group buy sooner if I knew how long it would have taken.

Starting research on how to best do the install on an 04 470. I'll post what I find out for anyone else to see as well.

I would like to know if any of you figure out if it is possible to remap the voice command button from the steering wheel to trigger Siri or Alexa on the grom unit.

For the gx460 group,
I’ve emailed them early July about the gx460 version but i never got a response back. Hope it’s still in the pipeline for our vehicle.

Also, I want to know what you guys end up doing for microphone placement and if the stock microphone can be reused or not.

Mostly comes down to how much work you want to do. Getting to the stock mic would likely require modifying a wire harness, and getting behind the headliner, or creating space near where the stock mic lives. Install manual recommends near the rear view mirror (where the stock mic lives).

I was thinking, if there is room, near the temp sensor vent near the right leg of the driver, might be a viable location, but will require some testing.

In Youtube videos of the install, the guy just punted and put the mic in the ash tray, and pulls it out when he needs it, though he notes this doesn't work that well.

I saw that video and I thought it looked really dumb in the ash tray. In Reality, a microphone by the mirror isn't terrible. I am still not entirely sure how the phone will play with answering calls on the bluetooth built into the gx and with the grom unit or which mic will try to work for siri.
