Hello Muddees...or is it mudders?
Anywho, I acquired a 1991 hdj81 and have been combing this thread to make improvements on my rig.
I’ve done a few and I am seeking someone to point me in the right direction regarding the leaky fuel pump I have. Or at least I think it is the fuel pump. I am finding it moist in and around that area and it’s not engine oil- that would be black.
My objective would be to find someone local to perhaps rebuild it and tune it with a new turbo I am seeking to purchase, hopefully state side so I don’t have to ship it in from overseas.
I have used the “search funtion” on this forum but to no avail..

Can someone please point me in the right direction?

Much appreciated,

Pablo,
Huntington Beach, CA.

Pablo,

My FJ60 12HT is getting a complete frame out rebuild at Certified Diesel Care in Miramar, San Diego.
I know its not that close to Huntington. but thats the best I got.
Give them a Google. I have the business owners contact if youd like it.

The pumps are nothing special and are identical to bosch style found on many other vehicles so most fuel injection shops should have experience working on them, I use a guy also in SD, omega fuel injection. Same for the turbo's, search on here for aftermarket companies who rebuild and tweak them. You are better off taking them off yourself and sending them out. I'd be weary about letting a shop do that part as that part is unique and takes some know how.

Loober,

How much is pump service running you there at omega?
I got quoted from pump specialist shop a while back in SD $450 for inspection and
$1250 for a no hard parts overhaul for a 12HT IP.

Give Brian a call, I had a full overhaul on my 1HZ pump including injectors and it was much less then that.

ok. Thanks
getting a full engine rebuild right now, but will definately look into it later if i need pump work.

x2 for omega. Lots of knowledge in that shop! He’s in El Cajon San Diego.

Nope - Best of luck
edit: @ki6bdb specific parts are needed that have to be ordered outside of NA.... probably best trying a Yanmar dealer, since you're on the coast, and asking who rebuilds pumps for them. They would at least have the correct parts in-stock or know where to get them. Print off a copy of the FSM IP section and bring it in with you

I have used General Diesel Injection Service in Anaheim for 3 IP and injector rebuilds, and referred many others to him. His name is Mario.

He is good and knows what he is doing, Bosch certified, and reasonable cost wise.

Don't know if he will R&R the pump or not, I have always just brought him the pumps.

No connection, just a satisfied customer.

How about for Tubros?
I have sent two emails to “Gturbo” in Australia and haven’t heard a peep..
Or would you recommend a rebuild?
If so, please post recommendations. Particularly for a 1991 HDJ81.

Cheers!

Express diesel in San Diego ended up rebuilding and setting up

my pump. Flow checked my injectors and rebuilt two of them. Cost me $970 for everything. They are mostly Bosch but they have a Denso certified guy on staff there.
