Hey all I have 1993 4Runner that both axles in the front need to be replaced. I found a 1990 4Runner and was wondering whether or not the axles are compatible. If they are that would be great because I could use alot of the parts on my 85 4Runner any help would be appreciated.

The IFS front axle is the same from 86-95 with some of the diffs being ADD vacuum actuated... So yes, the CV's will swap.

Your 85 has a solid axle... not a lot is a direct swap from a 90, and almost nothing from the front axle, unless you want to widen your 85.... then there's a link in the FAQ you should read...

The '90 4Runner rear axle is setup for coils, not leafs that your '85 uses. You could convert your '85 to coils I guess... But, if not, I'm not sure it's worth the trouble to cut/grind off all the coil stuff and weld on spring perches. Rear axles are not that rare.

I totally forgot about that.... thanks KLF!

And the coil sprung axles have different brake baking plates and e-brake cable system along with slightly longer axle shafts etc.
