Can't make it, my daughter has a band concert. Maybe I can call in ... lol

First meeting of the new year means that ------- This is the election meeting. Since Leon has said that he can't make it we have one new candidate for an officer position. I can hear the railroad starting up now.

I couldn't find the oh crap emoticon...

I'm sure everything will stay as is, except we need a new V.P.

Vote for Leon for V.P.!

I'm voting for Leon and I'm the current V.P. :D

hey guys...I just moved to Pueblo West about a year ago and have a 70 FJ40. I've been wanting to come up for a meeting since I moved out here but work always seems to get in the way. I finally have the right Tuesday evening off and plan on coming up. Looking forward to meeting you guys and hopefully getting involved. My Cruiser is currently in parts...started the restoration process a couple months ago...but so far so good. See you guys on Tuesday...

Come on out, we are getting more 40 owners so you should have good company.

We will have a new VP too, may even be me judging by how the railroad is shaping up. But seriously guys, I'll do it. Unless I have to be present of course :D

Wow, a volunteer for an officer position? What have things come to. It's no fun for the rest of us if we don't railroad you into it, so try to at least put up a fight :D

,I thought it was April fools day, I mean as my kids would say it was opposite day...

I will be stopping at Buffalo Wild Wings before the meeting. I plan on being there about 5:45pm if anyone wants to join me.

Buffalo Wild Wings® - 7425 North Academy Boulevard, Colorado Springs - (719) 594-9464

So what was discussed last night, besides me as VP?

Were all other positions retained?
Did you guys discuss the private thread on club dues and membership?
Any more on the trail schedule?

Who is our secretary anyway??

Well Leon,
You are now the new VP and as the old VP, I threw you under the bus as fast as I could. :flipoff2:

You have been officially tasked to figure out how to get stickers for the club with the new logo that the old VP developed...

I felt bad by doing that (not really, I just want the stickers before I leave, so I opted to butt in)...so...I have taken the task at hand.

I have sent in a proof for 4" stickers to a company in Cali, should be getting 50 of them in about a couple of weeks. I will show them at the next meeting and we can discuss a re-order and some variations of the sticker....so....merry X-mas Leon!:flipoff2:

The sticker company sent me a proof of what the cut line should be. The black line outside the sticker should be where the sticker separates. Sweet.

Lets see if I was paying attention. Yes, all other officers were retained.
Chuck - President
Leon - VP
Luke - Secretary
David M. - Treasurer
Chuck also volunteered to be the official TLCA delegate.

We did discuss a little the dues/membership thread and decided to remind everyone on mud about the private section and bring it up in Feb. since we were short on time.

Some discussion of stickers/hats/shirts/patches with new designs. Input ideas on MUD or at next meeting. Chuck should wear his shirt next month!

Had some brainstorming on trail schedule with a few corrections that chuck will take to the trail committee and will be up for final approval in Feb. Darrel said he would post the rough draft on the website.

Two new visitors, both 40 owners. + 7 members. Thats about all.

Great post Ryan, looks like Secretary material next year ;)

There was a review of the vehicle recovery on Saturday.
Election results:
President - Chuck
V President - Leon
Sec. - Luke
Tres. - David M

We discussed the New Logo.
We discussed ways to get more involved in the community
We discussed the trail schedule.

We forgot to discuss why there is a Tacoma on the logo. Isn't this the Land Cruiser club?

That discussion happened months ago...when we developed the logo.

The club is not a "Land Cruisers" only club...It is a Toyota based club. To represent the toyota side of the house we decided a Taco would be a good idea, so we have the old fj40 and the new Taco.

Then we decided on the colors...then the background...then this...then that...and now we are finally at the point of production.

Just go to the sticky thread "Colorado Land Cruisers HAS a New LOGO!!" and you can read about the evolution of the new logo.

Changing the name won't change the amount of new members. Neither will getting more involvement with the club, changing dues, or any of that stuff. Bottom line is we are a niche club, Toyota's only, and Toyota hasn't made an out of the box off road dedicated 4x4 since the last 80 series rolled off the line in what? 1997? So you have three choices:

1) go buy a new Toyota and throw a ton of money at it, maybe even a solid axle...then buy a shop full of tools to put it together or pay a fortune or someone else to do it.

2) Buy an old Toyota and throw a bunch of money at it because it has a ton of miles and everything is worn out. buy a shop full of tools or pay a fortune for someone else to do it.

3) buy an ATV or UTV and go wheeling and exploring next weekend....

Which choice do YOU think is killing our club numbers???

If you want a club with a ton of members...sell your Toyota and go buy a damn Jeep...Aren't Toyota owners usually Toyota owners because they wanted to be different??? And then they complain because not everyone wants to be like them??? I don't get it.

Look, I joined this club for one simple reason....to meet other cool, like minded people and have a good time. I honestly like everyone in this club and don't have a bad word to say about anybody. I am happy about how much we do, how much we help the forest service, and how much I pay to be a member here. My friends in other states are jealous when they see pics of my volunteer work and keep asking me how their clubs can get into something like that. I just think maybe we should take a step back, and let things be the way the fall together. I for one, am having a great time.

If I would like to see anything, It would be that maybe more of our own existing club members would get out more. I thought I could make a difference by tackling the club schedule and making it something everyone would want to do. Then I realized that was impossible and have since given up. :meh:

Nicely put Luke.

I spend lots of my "free" time outside of the city environment. Guess that's why I live outside of the city environment. I ride ATV's, camp have camp fires work on projects in the garage, which usually is the cruiser, and take the cruiser out on the trails.

My primary reason for being part of a 4x4 club is so I have a connection to other people who want to take 4x4's out on the trails and going together is a much better idea than being out on your own. I will try much harder lines when I am with other capable rigs than if I was on my own.

Supporting the sport should be part of the clubs involvement and we do that by working with the forest service.

I guess I'm just getting to the point that the club is what it is and I don't think it has changed much since it was created. The active members move around some and the number if involved memebers changes some but it has always been a club like it is now.
