Changing the name won't change the amount of new members. Neither will getting more involvement with the club, changing dues, or any of that stuff. Bottom line is we are a niche club, Toyota's only, and Toyota hasn't made an out of the box off road dedicated 4x4 since the last 80 series rolled off the line in what? 1997? So you have three choices:
1) go buy a new Toyota and throw a ton of money at it, maybe even a solid axle...then buy a shop full of tools to put it together or pay a fortune or someone else to do it.
2) Buy an old Toyota and throw a bunch of money at it because it has a ton of miles and everything is worn out. buy a shop full of tools or pay a fortune for someone else to do it.
3) buy an ATV or UTV and go wheeling and exploring next weekend....
Which choice do YOU think is killing our club numbers???
If you want a club with a ton of members...sell your Toyota and go buy a damn Jeep...Aren't Toyota owners usually Toyota owners because they wanted to be different??? And then they complain because not everyone wants to be like them??? I don't get it.
Look, I joined this club for one simple reason....to meet other cool, like minded people and have a good time. I honestly like everyone in this club and don't have a bad word to say about anybody. I am happy about how much we do, how much we help the forest service, and how much I pay to be a member here. My friends in other states are jealous when they see pics of my volunteer work and keep asking me how their clubs can get into something like that. I just think maybe we should take a step back, and let things be the way the fall together. I for one, am having a great time.
If I would like to see anything, It would be that maybe more of our own existing club members would get out more. I thought I could make a difference by tackling the club schedule and making it something everyone would want to do. Then I realized that was impossible and have since given up.
