Once you get to know us you will see that we have a very strict protocol for the running of meetings. Usually there is a group in the parking lot that is ensuring that the member is driving a Toyota product if not the actual vehicle that is the excuse- reason for joining the club. The excuse-reason vehicle will be checked over and the merits of your decision to perform certain or no work on the vehicle will be discussed. After passing muster will you be allowed into the meeting location. Of course the vetting process may not be very rigorous and may not even happen at all if the weather is nasty. The meeting starts at 7:00 sharp. That is whether the President or anyone else that happens to be there notices the time. We are flexible about allowing others at the meeting to notice the start time also. As in " Oh crap, it is 7:14, I guess we better start the meeting now. " The meetings run exactly 60 minutes. They are timed using the latest technology known as who notices the time after everyone stops talking. At that time members will start to get antsy in their seats until someone remembers that we follow Robert’s Rules of Order and makes a motion to adjourn the meeting. Attendees will depart the meeting using the same technique that is used when changing classes by high school students and normal people during a fire alarm. An assembly of the meeting attendees will reconvene in the parking lot around the most controversial vehicle driven by one of the attendees. This vehicle will soon have people kicking tires looking under the hood and generally talking in sentences that start with “If I had the money ------.” At the president’s option and only if he is given implicit permission, the meeting may not even go inside the building and have all of the above required components performed in the parking lot. This has been known to happen during the summer months. After you have studied the above protocols you will be able to enjoy the meeting more and retain more of the important business that is discussed at each one.
