Folks,

Now's the time.

We need to begin to make contact with vendors to solicit donations for next year's Coal Mine Cruiser Classic... and I need your help.

Here's some info so you know what you are getting into. -- too much detail maybe... but that's just my way... ;-)

Requirements (somewhat flexible of course):
1. TIME: expect to put in just a couple of hours per week on average
2. ACCESS: best if you have the ability to make and receive a few calls and emails during the day, but early evenings will work too.
3. INTERNET: you should have easy access to the internet, web access and email access. You should be able to keep up with your emails on at least a DAILY basis.
4. TALK: you should feel reasonably comfortable talking on the phone. You will be calling four or five 4x4 businesses that are generally open to these solicitations - some of whom already know about the club and the event. You will be calling as a representative of the club. You will be provided with a script/talking points so you know what to say and so that you have the info to answer their questions. They will often ask to have materials sent to them. You will let me know and I will get materials out immediately. In addition there will be information posted on a special area of our website just for the vendors that you can point them to.
5. FOLLOW-THROUGH: This needs to get done. If you take on 4-5 vendors to call please try to stay on top of them and follow them through the process. If at any time you find that you cannot continue the process just let me know and I'll move those vendors off to another person - no problem.

"Why would I want to do this? you ask.
1. It'll make the event better
2. You will be establishing a personal relationship with your vendors (this can come in handy when it's time to order parts)
3. It'll make you a hero with the chicks (or dudes, depending on your inclination)
4. Free stuff... as you have long suspected club "insiders" get free stuff like lockers, lifts and tires at the expense of the club and it's members... well ok, we don't, but we like to think we might someday.
5. It's a big help to all of the people involved in the club on a daily basis. Help to spread the work out... many hands make light work of even the biggest jobs.
6. Someone has to do this and I WILL NOT do 90% of it myself like I have in the past... Step up.

Drop me an email or give me a call if you can help.

Thanks,
Mark
