Working with an 83 that has the return spring style slave and clutch fork.
Just did a full clutch job and have everything back together and I can’t keep the indent in the fork on the ball that’s on the bellhousing.

I think I tweaked those clips that hold it on and now it’s just kind of floating.
How important are those do they actually hold it in place? I’m guessing very but wanted to check that seems to be the only thing wrong.

Hard to see but this is me holding the fork intention into the ball and that clip isn’t even close to touching

They’re really just to help hold the fork in place during assembly.

It's really hard to see and figure out what is what here - I would try to bend that spring a bit so it does actually hold that fork on the ball.
Once everything is bolted in place and you worked your cluch that spring is out of duty and only important if you want to replace your slave at some stage. Otherwise the fork could delocate....

It’s basically just trying to show how they got pulled apart/tweaked and aren’t really holding onto the ball

Ok thanks must be something else I’ll have to mess with it again tomorrow
