I cut the shields in the 45 lpb, very nice, maybe to bright because you can't dim them. Left the 82 alone but put in a little brighter bulb, works good. Tried LED did not like.

175L is what I used, its 5 candle power compared to the stock 3 cp, not a huge difference but it seems to help

years ago I had to buy a whole box from NAPA, they said they would never sell them if they got a box.....now my box is empty

Perfect thanks pimp

@Landpimp Were these on a 24v system? My 42 is 24v

12v

Anyone ever try T5 led bulbs in place of the reg bulbs??? I see them for 24v systems

If I remember right 4wheel auto in Edmonton has a 24volt light bulb kit that you can get with upgraded dash bulbs. I know I bought the kit for my BJ74 a few years back and was quite happy. Give them a call and support a Canuck cruiser place

Yes i saw they had a kit. I ordered a bunch of led bulbs for 2 diff vehicles so i will see if they wprk out.

I try to support local but hos prices can be a bit much. I learned that the hard way paying $250 for repo tailights.... my own fault for not asking i guess lol

It is certainly more involved than just replacing bulbs but a great upgrade. One caveat- the EL lighting produces a high frequency pitch that can be heard by some (including me). The dimmer works though and you can dial down the brightness which also dials down the volume of the high frequency pitch so it is inaudible to me.
Any chance you have an internet link where you bought the EL cable?

Any way you could show which part of the bulb the positive connects to?

If you use the wedge technique as shown in the previous images, you just need put the wires into the slot where the bulb goes (keep in mind the polarity). Keep the wires separate and then push the bulb in place. I soldered mine but can't remember where I soldered to - I believe thought it was to the contacts shown below:

I don't have a need to take out my cluster so sorry can't confirm this but I feel pretty confident about this.
