wheeling Saturday

Ben- thanks for the kind words and for posting the photos. It was indeed a good day on the trails, perfect weather, not a lot of traffic in the park, and a good mix of whelers. We had some newbies and some experienced guys and I hope everyone had a good day. had a little bit of damage- a quarter panel dent for Hildy (less than usual for him!!!) and a scrape on Rob"s FC cruiser door. Matt Reed and Tom Humphries wheeled their FJ80's for the first time and had a great time. I didn't wheel the pig, instead I rode with Matt and served as navigator/spotter. Snow in places made things interesting and Rene showed us how to conquer the loop at the bottom of the quarry in his 80, even though ti was snow covered. His 80 is awesome. In my group we had Matt Reed, Tom Humphries, Rene, Ben Latham and Chis Bury in 80's, Craig Merkey in his 40, Rob in the FJ, Matt Tarnow in his capable FJ, Hildy in his 62, and MacNeill in his nice 100 series. There was a large FJ group besides ours and Dale from MD got to the staging area a little late and wheeled with those guys. Trikpony showed up, too, but after our group had left the staging area. I saw him during the day on various trails tucked in with a land rover group. We got out to the staging area around 2:30 and played in the competition area a bit.

Tom and I swapped some parts from truck to truck (OME suspension and FJ60 doors) after the day of wheeling. All in all a good day and good weather for everyone to drive home. Craig and i talked about a club meeting sometime between now and spring and we will get together on a time and place for that.

Jeff- we missed ya!

Thanks to everyone for coming out to support the club wheeling day and having a good time. Gary S

We should try to do that before Dec 12. I think. Hildy ships out again.

Had a great time wheeling. Good to see everyone. Especially some of the new faces. Hope y'all make it out next time.

Let's get together before Hildy goes back! A nice lunch as we have in the past to get everyone together and meet would be great!

Everyone can come out...chat, get to know each other and keep our club moving forward!

Craig

Yesterday was an excellent day at rausch. Probably my best time out at a park yet, except for the throbbing face thing I had going on after some bounching around. Thanks for the pics Ben and Gary thanks alot for the awsome shirts and spotting me through some of the hairy areas. The club has really come a long way since i've been here last. It sucks Jeff is gone I wanted to see him again too but I don't think the club will suffer with Gary as our fearless leader. We had a pretty darn good group of guys and rigs out yesterday, I was impressed. I was also glad to see so many cruisers out for really just a small random gathering. Sorry for the confusion Chris I won't be going over seas again for another 12 or so months. What I was trying to explain was that I will be home in PA from december 19th to jan 19th for block leave so I hope we can get together again between those dates. Sometime right after the holidays would probably be best for everyone. I'm stationed in FT Drum NY active duty but I will try to make it to as many ALCA events as possible. Its pretty easy for me to drive home for the weekend. Now whoever else has pics post em on up!

Thanks for a great day!

Great wheeling with you guys yesterday. Good to see some old faces and meet new ones.

And as always, big thanks to Gary for making it happen and Rene for tailgunning.

Here's some pix I took:
