I think I'm in the middle of one right now. PayPal blocked payment. Fellow emailed me directly and didn't reply on Mud to my post here.
Hopefully you have searched for your phone/email addy in forum posts and reported them so a moderator can edit/remove the personal info.

I’m pretty sure we can add Mr. Grace to the scammer list.

Anyone who engages God and capitalism in the same sentence or pitch to sell something, I’m out. You know it’s going to end poorly and that they are schisters.
Hopefully I don't get beat up for saying this, but unfortunately that's how you find the suckers.

I just had someone attempt to scam me. I caught it somewhat early and followed it through for a quite a while but when I asked for a handwritten invoice in the same picture as all the items I was told I would get (which were all originally showed to me separately). he demanded I only pay friends and family. It was the grand daddy of red flags when he refused after I told him I could just throw on some extra money to use "good and services" so I could get the protection. I did not get the contact through MUD but a different 4x4 forum. I got a PM from a member of that forum saying he had a guy who could help me. I e-mailed him and the attempt to scam started there with obvious "too good to be true" photos of items I was looking for, obvious AI doctored photos which made no sense if you knew what you were looking at, a rather unique name which could easily be googled as someone who would not be dealing in vintage 4x4 parts, requests for information that was unnecessary to ask for, and a sudden deal kill when "friends and family" vs "goods and services" became an issue. In reality, the forum member and the "guy who could help me" were probably the same person or possibly just a wingman. It sucks this person has my e-mail address and my name but lesson learned to cut out that possibility in the future. I can give the forum, username of the scammer wingman, and e-mail address of the scammer but I don't think I see anyone else posting specific scammer info on here so if there is a specific place for that on MUD, let me know and can make that info public although, if the scammer sees it, he will just change his info and do it again.

The "my cousin Vinny has what you are looking for" is a super common scam tactic. The scammers use throwaway emails....the goal is to scam a few individuals then on to the next email/scam. From what I've seen, they'll private message 10-15 forum members in quick succession and hope that a couple bite before they get caught.

This is a common scam on craigslist and marketplace. I cannot believe that it's leached into a landcruiser forum. I guess that just shows how big this site has become.
It’s also common now on BaT. I lost an 80 series auction a couple weeks ago and got an email that I thought was legit telling me the winning bidder couldn’t secure funding and now the seller was offering me a “second chance.” I F’d with the scammers for awhile after I found out and they were willing to take it pretty damned far.
