Here's what keeps the metal socket in place.
See how the plastic tab is engaged in the socket:

You release the tab by rotating the socket a few degrees either way:

And this is the sequence for fully removing the socket:

1) Turn it a few degrees. 2) Pull it out a little. 3) Turn it back. 4) Pull it all the way out.

What technique and instruments did you use to rotate and extract it?
I used a small screwdriver in between some of the slots in the back to help me twist it. It only has to twist a small bit.

Here’s a picture of all the components. The light socket is the first thing I twisted out.

Here's how to fix the lighter:

There's a fusible link on the back of the socket that can blow.
You can strip back a little of the insulation and re-attach it like I did here:

Do you have a part number for this? The only number I could find on it was 491-0 and e83.
