If anyone is local here’s a preview of the 2019 Chicago Auto Show. My 200 will be on display as part of the ChiTown Toyota Off Road Group display. Every year at the Auto Show they allow a couple local clubs to have space on the floor. This year it’s 4X4 Toyota’s and the local Corvette Club.

We got to preview the show during set up today, pretty cool to see set up. The show doesn’t open until tomorrow for media day. Here are a few pics I shot. If any of you guys make it to the show please feel free to post your pics in this thread. I’ll be working the display Friday Feb 15th from 4pm to 10pm. Let me know you’re from Mud and I’ll pass you a beer from the ARB fridge in my truck.

Nice! I will stop by the display but will most likely miss you on Friday.

We saw where the new Taco was stashed, it’s super well wrapped and being watched closely. The unannounced TRD Pro model (Sequoia or LC?) is also under similar security. I technically have access to press day tomorrow but I won’t have the time to go into the city and check it out. Gonna have to wait like everyone else I suppose.

The Heritage LC looks like a deep blue under the exhibit lighting, not sure if it’s the black diamond paint code that I had on my ‘07 FJC or not but I suspect it is. Haven’t done too much research on that model yet. Lots of flake in the paint for sure under this lighting. Looked good though, the wheels looked nice in person. Tires looked undersized IMO. It’s got a good looking display though.

Comparing images and the video clips, I'm guessing the new TRD Pro is a Sequoia. Which is already long in the tooth so perhaps a swan-song before it gets updated.

Turns out I did make it out for media day. This is the way to see the auto show. No crowds, swag, unveiling’s...

‘20 Taco gets a new grill, 360* camera apple / android head units and a plowed seat for SR5 and above. Sequoia looks good and will come in some cool colors. RAV Off Road TRD looks cool with a Tacoma style grill.

Android Auto for the Taco is a first. I’m glad Toyota is doing some work on the Taco, but there are no mechanical changes and the Taco is getting old. So this is just a mild refresh.

I'll be there on Saturday. Looking forward to seeing your 200!

I did the exact same thing when I saw the teaser from Toyota.

I don't know who the market for the Sequoia TRD Pro is. The trim adds nearly $20k to a standard/base Tundra which starts at $32k. That's a 62% premium. The Sequoia starts at $49k, add a 60% premium for the TRD Pro, you're into Land Cruiser territory.

Agreed. And the Sequoia looks FAR more dated than the LC. The interior hasn't truly been updated in 12 years and shows it. That head unit they have looks like a cheap aftermarket one and everything just generally looks boring and old. A couple year old LC is a far better value than a new Sequoia.

If the next land cruiser comes out with Android/Apple Carplay I will probably pay a premium to try and replace the head unit if able. It'd be nice if waze could be integrated since I primarily use that.

  • Heritage edition doesn't seem to have the dark accents described on the press release, and the roof basket looks like a lazy tack - on, poor execution there
  • Seqoia: I love the roof rack, that's what they should have done on the 4Runner TRD Pro vs half length
  • Rav4: why not? looks better, I am sure target mkt would be happy
  • Taco: OMG finally CarPlay/AA!
Thanks for the previews!!

The front end of that 4Runner is MUCH better than the current offering and the roof rails look like they actually stick up far enough for a roof box to clear the rear spoiler with the rear gate open.

My only real beef with the TRD Pro's and the LC Heritage is the tires. Why not put some true ATs on them? It would make a huge difference.

Side note: Those Sequoia grills will be flying off the shelves for 2nd Gen Tundras.

Where do you see pics of a 4Runner? I think you might be looking at the RAV4 if you’re looking at the pics in this thread.

I will be right there with you, trying to figure out a way to get a new head unit in that supports Apple CarPlay/ Android Auto
