So a buddy is looking to lift just the rear of his '92 pickup about 2". I am trying to convince him to lift the front as well but he wants a little tilted forward look to it. He doesn't carry much weight ever and drives alot on the pavement so ride quality is VERY important. Any suggestions? Neither of us has alot of Wrench'n experience so easier and cheeper the better. Thanks
I'd think lift blocks are the obvious answer - won't affect ride, and only costs you the blocks and u-bolts. But, be sure to get a good kit and follow the instructions. In Canada, you may have to torch off the old u-bolts due to rust.
on the contrary ide expect with lift blocks you would get excessive axle wrap making for a much more bouncy ride. plus it would wear your springs out faster.
If you want an easy kit that will come complete and idiotproof ide sugest the Old Man Emu 2.5 spring kit. Nat88toy runs it and he says the quality of the ride is vastly improoved with the OME kit.
You might try a longer shackle in the rear.... I have 3 inch longer than stock shackles and that gives you 1.5 inches.... I dont' know if 4 inch longer shackles is too much or not....
I think add-a-leafs are like 40 bucks or so and some come with new u-bolts.. Then you don't have to torch out the spring bushings and install new ones just to get on a shackle or new spring. Cheap, and easy. Blocks do suck, if he gets one, make sure he doen't get one made of aluminum.
Just wondering what OME kit you speek of. The only one I can find is only 1.75" is that maybe an add a leaf or something. Also did he just put the kit on the back or is it all 4 corners. thanks
I don't think the OME kit will get you a "cheap" 2 inches, but it will be a high quality 2 inches. I believe you can get just the rear leafs from them and crank up the torsion bars, or I know they have a kit with rear springs and torsion bars (and I think it may even come with anti-inversion shackles).

all is true! i got the rear springs and anti inversion shackels and cranked up my t bars i later ordered some bigger torsion bars to cary the weight of the arb and winch, and it rides great
