Im starting to think that maybe the wheel spacer failures on 80s that we have seen could be due to lower thread counts on the spacer lug nuts.
Ive never looked into it like that before.
Guys...check you thread counts on your wheel spacers.......................................................
That could be. I've been contemplating ordering up some spidertrax 1.5" spacers. If I pick some up on sale in a couple weeks I'll report back on what the thread engagement ends up being with the lugs that come with them.
 
Got em on there.
Finger tight was a full 12 turns plus 3/4 more for torque vs what I had was 8 turns.
Below is a factory then ET then spacer lug nut then a standard steel wheel lug nut with a 21mm head
