Well for one I once took my LX470 to a local toyota dealership and they told me I needed new cv axles because they always go out at about 120,000 I made the manager take me back so I can see it for myself... when they lifted it up on a jack and showed me the signs I told them that’s funny I just replaced these 5,000 miles ago... they looked at me and said oh did they use old ones they look like they need to be replaced... nope I bought oem ones from toyota parts... they told me it was mis diagnoses... no thanks
on another note I asked them to replace the light bulb behind my battery on my lx470 they told me I needed a whole new head light assembly no thanks. My cousin and I took a look and saw a fried wire. we just cut and spliced in a new wire and connector. Viola $2 later all fixed. Dealer quoted $900...
One time they told my mom she had leaky shocks at 17,000 on her rx350 I told them to show me... they said they wiped it and cleaned it... 7 years later car still runs great no “leaky shock”
I just don’t trust them.. not to mention stories of people having AHC fluid being replaced with the wrong hydraulic fluid...
I’m sure there are great dealers out there but in my experience in my area I’m a bit Leary.
thing with dealers too at least in my area you can’t pick who works on your car your drop it off and they gave it to the next available tech
