Well they are a clone of the Simex. I think they just started producing them. They are a bead to bead remold not a retread but they are still a re-manufactured tire.

You CAN get Simex tires in the US but they are like $280 each? something crazy like that and they aren't DOT market if that matters- these remolds ARE DOT marked.

I emailed them and asked it they were considering other sizes- no response yet.

Cool thanks for doing some research...I also emailed the company from the other simex copy and no response either...let me know if you hear anything more...

ps how would you "get" Simex tires in the US?

thanks

ps thanks for the research (and will have to sign up on the landrover forum to view your second link)

They are just too much $ for what they are. Some Australians who have used them VS Super swampers rate the Simex as superior- but for them the Super Swampers are probably as expensive as the Simex tires are for us!

You should be able to find them in Europe they are THE trials tire there. Taxes might make you shudder though- in the UK there is 17% Value Added Tax on everything

Just for kicks here is a truck in Australia with Simexes AND Super Swampers:

If you read about Bill's LR you'll find out that they are actually home made portal drop boxes- Amazing. Who sits around and thinks "hey I think I'll make a set of portal axles in my shop today." ??!!

Another Vote for the Maxxis Buckshots
I put 32.11.5 on stock rims and there great on the beach on the trail.
Bit noisy on the road but heh its a muddie!!!!

dunlop mt cost around 99 bucks here brand new in a 31 10/50. supper swamper trxs mt tires are good on road off roaf snow decent in the mud and quite as hell for a swamper on the street. i upgraded my girls yj from the dunlop mt 31s to a set of 33 12/50 15 trxs and they are quiter then the dunlops. the dunlop gave around 50k miles

The newb here. I will be looking for some new tires in a bit. Probably go with a 265/75/16. From what I have found the General Grabber MTs are cheap. There is a newer Cooper MT but I don't remember what its called. A guy on another forum mentioned Hankook DynaPro M/T's also. He had Dunlop Mud Rovers he didn't like.

http://www.tirepackage.com/ This place is owned by 4 Wheel Parts. My buddy bought his Iroks from them and has had great service.

255/85/16 BFG MT: $150 a tire, anywhere

i believe you are refering to the cooper discoverer stt, i have seen 2 different tread patterns for this tire however they are popular in oz because of durability. the simexs are favoured over boggers here but i think that is because of the boggers lack of lateral traction. in calgary you can get blemished coopers for cheaper, but for the price you are looking to find a mud tire at i think used is probally going to be the way to go.
