Charge/ Sensor Lights On

I have a 81' pickup, mostly stock drivetrain. This morning both the charge and the sensor lights would light up intermittently. Both at the same time only. Are these just "your alternator is going to take a crap" lights? Everything seem to run fine.

I'll check the output of the alt in the morning.

If the CHARGE and BRAKE light are on, it typically means the alt is dying, usually the brushes.

x3. if it's covered in oil too it would be a good idea to fix your leaks too or you'll be replacing it often.... I know.

Brake light does not come on, the "Sensor" light does, with the "charge".

Yep, California Smog Nazi Special Edition. Maybe it has something to do with it barely passing smog after failing the first time. It just failed (25mph NOx only), I cleaned out the already clean egr and assorted, replaced the cracked vacuum lines, and it barely, barely, passed.

I'll check it out more when it stops raining, but for now its easier to web mechanic it.
